Early life​

O'Rourke grew up in Wheatfield, New York, the youngest of three daughters born to Terry and Barb O'Rourke. She began playing soccer at a young age with her sister and her mother, who played collegiately at Niagara. Her father played hockey at Niagara, and O'Rourke played that and other sports growing up including volleyball and basketball. She joined Western New York Flash at age seven or eight, going on to earn two-time ECNL all-conference honors.She was a standout player at St. Mary's High School, setting a school record with 135 goals, the first player to pass the 100-goal mark, and leading them to two Monsignor Martin Athletic Association championships.She was named first-team all-state four times, the New York Gatorade Player of the Year in 2020, and United Soccer Coaches All-American in 2021.She committed to South Carolina as a freshman.​

College career​

O'Rourke scored 6 goals with 3 assists in her freshman season with the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2022. She was the team's second-leading scorer behind Catherine Barry, despite starting only 4 of her 24 appearances, and earned Southeastern Conference all-freshman honors.She averaged just under 45 minutes per game in the postseason as South Carolina won the SEC tournament and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.O'Rourke started all 21 games in her sophomore season in 2023, scoring 5 goals and adding 3 assists, again second in points to Barry.

O'Rourke transferred to the Texas A&M Aggies for her junior season but tore her ACL during spring training, forcing her to miss the entire 2024 season.


She then transferred to the Tennessee Volunteers for her senior season in 2025.

International career​

O'Rourke was invited to virtual training with the United States under-17 team in 2021.She was called up to the under-20 team in April 2024, scoring in a friendly against Canada.

They play in Knoxville against Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Tennessee also plays Virginia and Virginia Tech the same day.

Found this comment on a UNC message board about the Spring game with the Lady Vols.

More scoreless soccer today, but UNC looked really good in the second half. Seemed like they managed to find some rhythm and precision in their passing. It felt like the incredible wind at this game passed up "rustiness" as to why UNC didn't score. The AR flag on both sides also ended a lot of the best chances for both teams. Faasse had a break away late in the first that was quickly whistled down, watching live it looked good ... of course no replay. A lot of great looks for Thomas and Faasse, and Ullmark had a sensational touch, run, and spin into the 18 that she just reached for and put over the net from 15 yards out.

Bella Devey was excellent, and whatever game speed adjustment she made between last week to this worked great for her. She's got tremendous skill, folks. One to watch.

Really like the progression I'm seeing from Ashley Pennie as well. I think she would have been a starter last year if not for some pleasant surprises out of the transfer portal, but she should definitely be a starter this year. Outstanding sense of where she is on the field and avoiding getting herself into trouble... and there's way more confidence to get forward and go on scything runs, probably my biggest criticism of her last year.

Split goalkeepers today, with Johann in the first, and in the second incoming redshirt freshman Liya Brooks, out of the portal from Washington State according to the roster. Not a whole lot splitting the two performances. They both had plenty "be solid" saves and grabs to make, and they both had a couple of miscommunications in passing while UT was pressing.

A much more "normal" spring game, with UT a little more open and aggressive, and definitely less physical. Good ref. I know Damon guffawed and shouted at him a couple times during the game, but from what I could tell he made solid calls, was professional, and stayed consistent. Big step up from the dude last week who looked mad he was missing some waves on the beach.

Thomas between Devey and Faasse to start. Those three moved around a bit, and Devey moved into midfield at times as well. Pennie, Ullmark, and Shores in midfield, with UNC going with a staggered 4 back with Williams and Alvarez (or someone wearing #4) around Gaetino and Mara at CB.

Heels had a few more players this week than last week, but I don't think any of the incoming true freshman have played yet besides Devey. I don't remember if Bretzer played last week but she got some good minutes today.

Clemson will host its first match of the spring as they welcome Tennessee to Historic Riggs Field on Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m.

All spring matches are free and open to the public.
