LADY VOLS ARE NOW THE #2 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY-THE OFFICIAL TENNESSEE ⚽️ THREAD

In the early 2010s, Tim Howard was doing brilliantly for both country and club.

He was the starting keeper for the USMNT that reached the knockout stages of two consecutive World Cups, and the starting keeper of Everton that constantly finished in the top half of the table.

Yet, personally, he was going through the toughest moment of his life. After his divorce, it was very hard for Howard to see his kids.

Now, he cherishes every moment he gets to spend with his daughter Ali Howard, who will play soccer for the University of Tennessee.

During the Wide Open podcast with former USWNT keeper Ashlyn Harris, Howard completely opened about that period of his life, which most people don’t know about.

“While playing in England, my ex-wife and I got divorced. I had two young kids and they went back to the States,” he began.

“Sadly, because it’s the Premier League and it’s what we do, there’s no days off.”

“I had to beg my coach to give me one or two days off every month or sixty days to hop on a flight across the Atlantic. I’d connect in Atlanta, go to Memphis to see the kiddos for 36 hours. Then I’d hop back on a plane to do it all over again.”

“I know it sounds crazy, it is crazy. At the time you think it’s impossible but you’d do anything for your kids.”

“I remember thinking if that didn’t break me, nothing would. It served me well.”

“This weekend, I hopped in the car and drove four hours to watch my daughter play for two hours and then drove back.”

“I complained once or twice on the way and then I thought, ‘Tim, you dreamt of these days. To be close enough to hop in a car and grab a water and drive to see your kid play’.”

“So that gave me perspective.”

Howard recently joined the ownership group of Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo. He was previously the minority owner of Memphis 901, which folded in November.

He also said his daugher Ali wants to be a professional player after college. So we could see another Howard representing U.S. Soccer soon.

LVFL Bunny Shaw scored the first 2 goals in a 4-0 win today.

Her first touch on receiving the ball is so impressive, she sets herself up for each goal beautifully.
