My wife (Jefferson City native), and I watch the lady vols along with all UT sports when we can get 'em up here on TV, and was wondering since I have never asked before, what is with the Carolina blue in their uniform? Thanks to whoever answers.

It's just one of the colors that the Lady Vols have always used.

Sometimes their shoes are that color. I thought maybe it was to be different like thier logo versus the Power T and that they use Lady Volunteers while most teams just use the regular mascot name. HMMM......

When I played soccer for UT our away uniforms were blue and white - for whatever that's worth.

They all have it on the Lady Vol logo. But I think the softball team is the only ones that have it anywhere else. They have a stripe on the sleeve.

When Joan Cronan was head coach of the Basketball team in the 1970's, Tennessee needed an orange away jersey to wear.

With a limited budget, Cronan went to a sporting goods store, and the only orange jersey they had was trimmed in Columbia blue. She must have liked the color ever since, because that color has been adopted as a third to orange and white.

This is the story I have always heard from people around the basketball program.
