Yeah, I'm the homer that will start it. We lost today and it feels bad. But, what a season for this great team. Months and months of exciting times and heart stopping thrills. This one game does not over shadow the events of the season. Without Pat Summitt deciding years ago to be a women's basketball coach, the games and teams we see today would not exist at anywhere near the level they do. Thaks to Pat and the gang for a terrific season. Next year, we are much deeper and stronger. Looking forward to it.:pat:

Good season this year. No final four, but at least a sweet 16.
Next season looks nice.

Pat will tell you this season was a disappointment and it was. Letting a freshman work you over in the Sweet 16 is nothing to necessarily be proud of. That being said, Summitt is still one of the greatest coaches and will have this team back in the final four within the next two years, and competing for the NC

Do you have different fans who read the Lady Vols forum than the men's hoops forum? If so you may want to slip over there and weigh in on the hypothetical

Sorry, you set it up. It fell that way. I try not to participate in threads with disgusting posts if I can help it. And, that's what it's turning in to. Perhaps one of the Mods will help with it.

How did I set it up? Unless I should have put it over here maybe? I didn't know this place was segregated?

Sorry, wrong wording. I guess sooner or later everyone has to find out about certain interesting posters. Now, you have found out the hard way. Didn't mean anything unkind. There's, also, an ignore button for a reason. Some Mod will eventually clean up the disgusting parts of the thread. I know you intentions were of an honest interest.

So what's the deal? Are there Lady Vol fans and "Men" Vol fans? Just out of curiosity, which one would you pick?

A Fact is a statement that is true, without any need for interpretation. Ex: Tennesse has a far more successful Women's program than Men's program when it comes to winning basketball championships.

An Opinion is biased based on the preference of an indiviual. Ex: I hate women's basketball so therefore Men's > Women's.

So you would not vote?

Can't vote for UK winning anything. Not even a horse race. So, it's a impossible proposition for me. If my hand is held to the fire UT Men's Team wins the NC. LV's have plenty. But, that's not what you're trying to gauge.

Actually it is. The whole "We hate women" thing isn't what I was expecting. Rather disturbing.

I love women. I married three so far.( OK the second one I don't like) I have a daughter who if she plays some day, I will cheer for her as hard as my boys. If she does well I will be just as happy.

And, I would, too, if it were me.

Unexpected expectations. Possible? So, some fans are one way or the other. Some fans love baseball and can't stand football. Some fans love everything. I suspect there may even be some who don't like any sport. Doesn't matter to me what anyone does or doesn't like. I come here to read, try to understand better and to learn. There's a lot of timely and factual info that hits here before just about anywhere else. Oh, yeah. And, throw up dopey post. I'm fair with the dopey post.

If these idiots that think the women's game sucks because the men play it so much better really want to take it out all the way to the end, then they should only be watching the NBA. I go to a lot of Gator games and a lot of Magic games. (I was at the Denver -Orlando game tonight). The level of play in the NBA is so far above college it's night and day. But give me tickets to the Magic and the Gators on the same night and I'm off to Gainesville. Just because the pros play it better does not mean the game is more exciting. In fact, maybe just the opposite. It's so effortless for them sometimes it looks like they aren't even trying. Give a guy any open look, and the shot is going down. It's too easy.

My son and I watched the UT Baylor game the other day. I was entertained. Those players were good. They set screens. They know how to pass out of the double team. They box out. Some of them have a better jump shot than any of our guys. I'll be watching the Baylor Duke game tomorrow night. May even watch FSU-UConn. There doesn't have to be a bunch of dunks in a game to be entertaining. Although those lobs to JP today were pretty sweet.

going backwards for about a decade. Losing a first round tourney game last year? First time ever? Losing in the regional semi's this year? Rare to go out that early. Pat's NOT done a great job the last decade--except for landing Parker. While Summitt can't get every player she wants every year, she almost never signs anybody who isn't a top 15 high school player. So why isn't she putting better teams on the floor? When is the last time we say a really DYNAMIC UT offensive team on the floor? I'll answer my own question: 1998--12 years ago. Whenever Parker left the floor, when she was at UT, the offense immediately went in the toilet.. because PS can't coach offense--unless she has an absolute superstar, her offenses sputter badly.

Talent evaluation/recruiting have slipped, and team offense has been a glaring weakness for years. The currrent team is too big and slow to be great--we can only hope that a PG emerges next year and that Baugh's knee(s) are finally healthy. I have huge respect for Summitt and all she's accomplished, but when you coach for as long as she has, the returns start to diminish over time, and that's been very apparent with Summitt. She'll coach at UT until she decides to quit, I realize, but if you gave PS the current Ct. squad, they'd be winning by 10 points and not 40, as they do now.

The way certain sentences are framed doesn't make opinionated arguments hold against known and published facts.

Addendum-No, not new. Missed that originally. Been a fan for well over 30 years of the LV program. As an overall UT fan, longer than that.
