LaDarrell McNeil commits to Tenn

This kid is a darn carnivore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have had a T-Rex as his birth mother.
i honestly wonder if some players he tackled were even able to continue playing football ever again. Reminds me of other carnivores like Dick Butkus, Jack Ham, and Mike Curtis.
However, this kid has speed, speed, and then more speed.

I called this one in a mock class, and everyone told me I was crazy. Now the question is, do we get Lawry? they were once thought to be a package deal.

Btw...this was my number 1 get aside from Hump. Dude is just what we need. You can't really teach nasty.

Wilmer-Hutchins DB LaDarrell McNeil commits to play for Tennessee | HP: Top Stories - Sports News for Dallas, Texas - SportsDayDFW

HUTCHINS -- Behind a backdrop of pom pom-waving cheerleaders, Wilmer-Hutchins safety LaDarrell McNeil -- considered one of the top safety prospects in the nation -- gave his oral commitment to Tennessee Monday night at Wilmer-Hutchins Eagle Stadium.

McNeil, No. 3 in SportsDay's Area Top 100 and No. 107 overall in Rivals' national rankings, chose Tennessee over greater than 20 other offers, from schools such as Arkansas, LSU , Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M and USC.

The choice eventually came down to Oklahoma State and Tennessee, McNeil said, with the Volunteers eventually winning out because he saw it as a place he could live "without football."

"I could play football anywhere ... but, I wanted to be able to live and have fun while I'm playing football," McNeil said.

Playing last season for the now-closed A. Maceo Smith, McNeil had 132 tackles, eight pass break-ups and three interceptions. He will be a four-year starter under coach Elzie Barnett.

Both McNeil and Barnett said that Tennessee's recent trend of producing NFL-caliber safeties -- namely Eric Berry and Janzen Jackson -- made the school an enticing option.

Eric Berry still making a big impact at UT...

Has it occurred to anyone that both Santos and McNeil were recruited by Muschamp when he was at Texas, and both decided to play in the SEC but not at Florida?

Interesting.....Florida is a very long road trip from Texas compared to Tennessee.

scout has post commitment video of McNeil... Anyway to view it without scout subscription? Clif notes? Anything on youtube?

If anyone's heard Comedian Rickey Smiley do Lil Darrell when I saw Ladarrell it's the first thing that came to mind. Funny stuff.

He probably wont have a choice. Its a miracle we have him in school and on the team right now. Chance he is in good standing for another season is minimal.

Janzen has to do something on the field. He really hasn't done much on a national level to raise his NFL stock. If he blows the season up this year then maybe...but if he has a mediocre season he won't go in the first two rounds. He'll either come back to UT or go to the NFL and fight for a spot for very little money.

What are the chances we get Collins and/or Wright to round out an already great 2012 db class?

Great news! Kid looks solid in run support. Anyone know how his coverage skills stack up?

This is another great get for us out of TX! I told my TX friends that they are going to start seeing a different color orange and different UT more often!

GO VOLS! :loco:

A big WELCOME young man to Big Orange country!!!

You're going to love being a Vol For Life.

This young man has a solid chance to be a starter as a freshman and be all SEC too and a solid All American by his Sophmore year.

He showed his intelligence by coming to Tennessee where he can get on the field quickly and playing in the SEC against the best of the best to prove he'll be NFL ready when he graduates.

This young man is really impressive.

Great recruiting CDD & Company!!!

VFL...GO BIG ORANGE!!!
