Lack of Respect South Carolina Band

Yes, they beat poor defenseless UT. At the end of the day, they get to return home to scenic south carolina and look at all their SEC and National Championship trophies.

Also, do they really think Spurrier is going to coach until he keels over?

As for the band, they have never been good. UT, UGA, Bama, UF have always had some of the best bands...in the country.

You mad, bruh?

I was impressed at the TN efforts to play some music in the Stadium at different points during the game.. Even though the old people prob didn't like it.. I'm glad to see we are trying.. The PA system needs prob needs updating though... I am not a band guy really at all but did anyone at the game this weekend notice that SC's Band did not shut up the entire game?? They played constantly.. After every play offense or defense they fired up and started playing.. It was so freaking annoying.. Every time something we tried to show a clip on the jumbo tron their band would try to play as loud as they could so people couldn't hear it.. Every time our band fired up they fired up... I actually saw the director guy looking towards our band and waiting for them to pick up their instruments... I just thought it was very rude of them to be like that.. You just don't do that in someone else's stadium.. If I were Dave Hart I think I would of been making some phone calls to their AD.. Props to our band for completely making them look like idiots at halftime.. Their band probably couldn't even form a circle..

That's nothing. When MTSU comes you won't even be able to hear yourself think. They are the loudest band in the land

Tennessee fans complainging about a band it really really sad.

UT plays Rocky Top what...100 times during a game...any game?

Away stadiums..home stadiums...

sorry but that's just ridiculous. I'll take a W on the road in the SEC anyway I can get it, but our second string offense + Alshon beat Tennessee's second string + Poole by less than 2 TDs

You think its rude?

Count how many times, per game UT played Rocky Top over that last two years...For every Lane Kiffin lie the band played Rocky Top...AD has a successful BM and they play.

No matter what we do at Williams-Brice, UT plays their tune...eevrytime a tackle is made, coplete pass...positive yardage play...11 men on the field...etc

They play it an average of about 35 times

Playing in the stands is what bands should do. Both halftimes looked and sounded very good.
And by the way, if you don't like what the South Carolina band did, you could try to email the assistant director.

MTSU has 32 trombones alone. I know 3 guys in it and the trombone section played so loud once this summer that they busted 4 water pipes in the stadium

They can be loud, but when they go super ape**** mode their tone goes to poop. That being said, good luck hearing POTSB

Really? A Tennessee fan from Mooresville, NC is calling Gamecock fans rednecks? Thanks for the laugh.

On a side note, I didn't like the fact that our fans kept the Game-Cocks chant going with an injured player on the field. It didn't last long, but I was sitting there wishing they would stop.

As for the band issue some have, believe me, just about every school in the SEC wants to shoot a baby when UTjr comes to town and we have to listen to Rocky Top every time they gain a yard and a half. USC is not the only school that does it.

I have never responded to a troll before. I don't care about your band, coach, fans, or football team. But, do not come onto the site and write disparagingly about anything UT. You stupid 9 post cock loving troll!

I was in the upper deck when Brent was injured. The fans were chanting gamecocks in response to the Tennessee cheerleaders coming up to the away section to do the Vols cheer. The people who started it probably couldn't even see the injured player because they had the opposing team's Cheerleaders come up and stand and cheer right in front of them.

It's true that no fans should cheer when an opposing player is injured, but that wasn't why it happened.

Prayers for all injured players.

Not sure what all the fuss is about the band playing when our band played. Yes they had someone watching when our band picked up their instruments they started to play and continued to play until our band finished. But this isn't the first time this has happened at home. Last year when Alabama was at UT they did the same thing. It was very annoying especially when sitting next to the visiting band. I am sure it happens alot but it is disrespectful and nobody can really hear either band play.

Is this common practice in other stadiums? Just curious from you SC fans posting here. Do away teams do this to your band in Columbia?

Honestly, I have been to several UT vs. USC games at Neyland and I never even heard the USC band. Probably because Neyland was rocking and we were destroying them. We didn't suck then. Oh the good ole days. BTW WE COULD USE A LITTLE MORE COWBELL! MORE COWBELL!

As a fan... S.C. really pissed me off too with the overplaying UT. I mentioned how rude they were to our host, and she thought it was just because we were int he recruit section.... I said... nooooo.. they're just outright being disrespectful.

Croom still coming to UT right? As you can tell, we NEED play makers!

Yeah, I'm a Gamecock fan and don't spend much time getting my post count up on other team's message boards. He made a post that I didn't agree with. I responded. That's not trolling. I've been very civil on this board since I joined. I could go in every thread and say "Back to Back, 14-3, etc.," but I'm not like that. I was simply looking to join in some intelligent conversation. Glad to know I won't be getting that from you. Sorry, I'm not sorry.

Yes, it happens. Every time USC plays SC State, the fans never hear a note from the Mighty Sound. The Marching 101 is an amazing band and they play non-stop. Their fans literally go to the games just to hear the band because they know the football team will get beat. UT, UGA, and other big bands try to do it also. It really doesn't help that we seat visiting bands in the most acoustic section of the stadium either. Sometimes small bands will drown ours out just because of where they are in the stands.

That being said, I find it disrespectful as well, but they are doing their jobs. Can't fault them for that.

Notorious? What proof of this do you have? Every fanbase has idiots, but don't get your undies in a wad because of a few idiots, and then make an ignorant generalization that makes you look foolish.

Our tickets used to be the last row of TN seats in section GG. I have about 5 home games against USuck as proof. And 5 away games for that matter as well, as the dead cockroach is only 90 minutes away. Outside of Oregon last year, South Carolina was always the worse fan experience for us.

That's odd. I go to four-five SC games a year, and I have not seen anything like this. Soooo, gonna have to call BS.

By the way, I know this is probably a difficult task for you, but did you ever have the good sense to stop and think that maybe those cheering didn't see the injured player? I am going to guess no.

How are you calling BS on my experience again? We used to sit right next to away fans at TN home games. What is so hard to understand here? Last year, while at the game in Columbia a fan got in our 6 year-old nephews face about the game.

And based on past experiences at these games in Knoxville SC fans around us have made jokes about injured players. This happened-sorry to burst your bubble, and it happened more at these games than others.

And why are you on a UT site at 8 am?

Again, every fan base has idiots, but don't let a few idiots lead you into making foolish generalizations about the entire fanbase. I have been at UT games before, and have heard people around me cheering while an opposing player was injured, but I have the good sense to understand that they most likely did not see the injured player. If you let the idiots get to you, your game day experience will suck, no matter the location.

I doesn't get to me-just pointing out that it happens more with some fan bases than others. Tough talking 6 year olds is a bit much, though.

And keep insinuating that I doen't have the good sense to know that they don't notice someone is injured after I point out that people made comments about said injured players. Christ.

I agree about the six year-old thing. I'm sorry that happened to you all.

Again, every fan base has idiots, not just USCe. I'm sorry you have had bad experiences at Williams-Brice and at Neyland with our fans, but we have no more jack-ass fans than any other fan base.

I hardly believe our band was trying to intentionally disrupt the jumbotron videos.

As for the interception thing, our band didn't play immediately after any of our turnovers. I would know because I sat beside them.

I beg to differ.. I was in sec Z13 right beside the USC band and they played after everything, and I mean everything..

I was sitting directly across the stadium from their band and they were LOUD. Louder than our band for sure. I got pretty annoyed how much they played and how they always played everytime our band played or our pa system was playing something. On a side note, this is my first game this year and I liked the music played over the pa. It's not traditional and I'm sure some of the older crowd didn't like it, but I've been around the vols for a long time and I liked the change.

Chances are you notice it more because it's the other fans; I notice all kinds of idiots dressed in orange on Saturdays, and the reality is we have just as many numbnuts as other fanbases. I also notice how our fans can be "outraged" at the behavior of other fans, then cheer it when one of our own do pretty much the same thing.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall them playing after any of our turnovers. They were constantly playing, though.

I'm not one to complain usually, but they were constantly playing to the point where we couldn't talk to the people right behind us.. Even the Carolina fans behind us were making comments about how aggravating it was..
