Lack of discipline starts with Coach Pruitt

Fine Ramel Keyton 100 K for his personal foul.

Problem solved.

It worked for Pruitt and his idiotic fashion statement.

TCHFCATUTK is safe regardless of what he does because he's Fulmer's pick.

The penalties dont bother me near as much as the fact that we are 26% on 3rd down. Even Vandy is better. We average 26 minutes of Time of Possession. Our defense is getting gassed. I'll take a stupid penalty if it means we can sustain some dang drives.

So question for the OP:

Mask discipline > Shower discipline?

You are missing the point... The analagy is as follows:
The health officials has directed to wear face coverings over the nose and mouth. That is a simple directive. If the coach doesn't follow this, how can he expect his players to be disciplined and not commit stupid penalties

Our biggest problem thus far has been our lack of discipline and amount of penalties that are just killing our momentum. And this all starts at the top. How can you hold the team accountable when the coach does not even have the discipline to wear his mask correctly (coach Pruitt has been wearing his gaiter mask around his neck and heading without covering the most important part, the mouth and nose). He has since corrected this. But the point is accountability and discipline starts at the top. Kids will not have discipline if the coaches do not show the same accountability.
The main point is true. Discipline starts with the HC.

The point about masks is irrelevant. Mask mandates are ridiculous... and look around a while. There are tons of successful coaches without "mask wearing discipline".

So Vince Lombardi was a bad coach because he didn't wear his tie correctly all the time?

I agree with your point but the association with masks... no.

"Coach is not wearing his mask properly so I can kick a guy in the nuts". Is that really your premise?

I'm not by any stretch suggesting lack of discipline is the major flaw in this team, but it has been a weakness. Just bone headed penalties, starting early on and continuing in later games. A team will have some penalties but several have been are inexcusable. And we are clearly not good enough to play dumb.
With the sort of team we have, a 10 -yard penalty on 2nd down kills any type of momentum and puts us in a very rough 3rd down situation. It takes away many options. How many times do you have to tell a player not to lead with the helmet? Those penalties can give the opposing team new life. It's the shooting-yourselves-in-the-foot syndrome.

GA was so smart with their defensive alignment. Got it all confused and put us in some deep holes with the penalties.

So no personal accountability? All of the UT players are little kids that have never played football before. Got it.

Every season thus far, Pruitt has done something significant that has trended our football program in the right direction. Wins at auburn and ms st in year 1. 8 game win streak in year 2. They’re going to do something significant this year to continue that trend, despite the horrible showing the past two weeks. They are going to figure it out on offense and start clicking no matter who is in there. Our defense is good, you can see it, but not getting points is exhausting and pretty much the d gives up and packs it in for the next week. KY game was a fluke, a letdown, a game that came after an emotional loss to Georgia. These seniors were playing to compete for an SEC championship. That’s out the window after the Georgia beatdown and took the wind out of their sails. But I bet money they will find a new motivation to play for and we will not see a repeat performance like we did against KY for the rest of the year. They won’t beat bama, but this week will be a bounce back week to give them confidence through the rest of the season. GBO 🍊

I'm just pointing out the obvious. The personal foul penalty on Deondre Johnson in the Georgia game absolutely devastated the team. This was an obvious lack of discipline. There are many other incidents like this.
With all the complaints about who is playing QB, it doesn't matter who plays at QB, if the team commits all these penalties we will not be a .500 team this year
DJ’s penalty and the kick in the nuts were very undisciplined.

As huge as penalties and lack of discipline are....turnovers far outweigh penalties (as a general rule) as detrimental to an effective offense.
I agree and would like to add that turnovers are a byproduct of being undisciplined.
Turnovers should be FEW and FAR between, and turnovers are few and far between for a disciplined team.....

Wearing a mask has nothing to do with the effectiveness of Pruitt's leadership. Stop being ridiculous.

I think they need to man up, commit to themselves to becoming better players and start playing like they should.
We need to develop a QB. After giving it some thought today I'm of the opinion that we cannot truly evaluate where this team is as a whole until we see some competent qb play.
