Lacey Goldwire - Final Assistant Coach

Obviously KJH reviewed resumes and interviewed many possible candidates. One criterion for sure is the ability to motivate today's players, another might be a coach of wings, and the ability to recruit. Fresh staff now in place to promote the LVs. all good!

Arkansas Coach Mike Neighbors said the Razorbacks tried to keep Goldwire.

We at Arkansas did everything we could to keep her,” Neighbors toldWholeHogSports. “We matched the offer that Tennessee made. She’s wanted that since she was a little kid, and it’s a chance for her to go do it. When you hire good people, eventually people are going to come calling. We’re happy for her. Sad to see her go.”

Looks like she was a keeper and we got her 😃

Yes, we did so well with the previous staff, I can see why you are so concerned!

But this staff has

16 years experience from the wife and husband couple

15 years from Jennifer Sullivan (one of which was in the big 10)

12 from Lacey Goldwire ( some in the Big 10 and 2 in the SEC)

Everybody on the coaching staff has over a decade of experience in some way.

That's great! And in all those decades how many High School All Americans did they land, and how many NCAA tournament games did they win?

These are the things they will be measured on now...

Sullivan was able to get 2 all Americans in her only year at OSU (but was also able to pull in two more top 50 prospects and one of the top rated international recruits). She was also able to get a top 2020 recruit to commit to OSU.

Goldwire worked with Sam logic who became a multiple all American in college she also helped deliver Amber Ramirez ( A high school all American before signing with TCU). She has also been credited with helping develop chelsea Dungee who was one of the best offensive players in the SEC (while also helping keep ArK on Sasha Goforth’s final three schools she was there lead recruiter). She helped Iowa win 27 games in her first year of coaching and a win in the NCAA then followed that up with a sweet 16 appearance the following year. She also had a big hand in putting Iowa’s most recent graduating class together that was able to make it to the elite 8 this year and recruited Megan G who has won national player of the year awards this year.

And the Harpers did a heckuva job getting Jordan to stay (they didn’t initially recruit her) but got the incoming class to stay intact.

Yes, the stakes will be definitely higher here on this stage and time will tell if they can get TN back to into the land of the elite. But this staff has been able to pull talent at their different spots and in the case of Goldwire she has had a hand in developing some good players.

Not saying they are the top crew yet but these guys have recruited players that played together well which has seemed to be a missing thing here. While they didn’t always get All Americans they got players that played well together.

Just a thought,dv,did you ever think of changing your nom de plume to wet blanket because that's what you seem to try and be on Lady Vol forums?

Not sure. How many did Pat or Holly get before they came to Tennessee?

I had no idea that she and former Lady Vol Shalon Pillow were such good friends. She’s posting pictures on Instagram of the both of them in Greece on vacation. If you go back in time in Shalon’s pictures, you can see they have known each other for a long time.

I guess that helps explain the her excitement about taking the Lady Vols job!

BTW, Shalon has been an assistant coach at MTSU for a while with Rick Insell after getting fired by everyone’s favorite greasy-headed prick, Matthew Mitchell.

I don't care at all about the greasy head you reference, but SP was doing about as much for the inside players as Dean did for ours. He had the balz to send her packing and HW did not!
