SIAP, but ive seen a lot of people bashing CDD for his 4-8 season this year. Personally, i'm reserving judgement until this time next year. But the 2009 La. Tech season wasn't quite as awful as some seem to think. They had a 6 game losing streak in which Utah State and Idaho beat them (on the road) by a combined 3 points. Then they lost to #4 Boise State by 10 and LSU by 8, and finally Fresno State on the road by 2.

there are some kiffinesque moral victories in there which a lot of us were using to justify our 2009 season.

There won't be anything you can judge off next year, except maybe how he handles himself and the team. Record wise, it's not going to be pretty.

His team may have went 4-8 last year, but his quarterback had 17tds to only 5ints. They had a 1,000 yard rusher and over 2,000 for the team at 4.4 per carry. They averaged 29 ppg.

They actually had more rushing yards than we did last year. And very close to the same PPG. Granted, they were not in the SEC.

Good point. Utah State and Alabama are equivalents.

but he also probably didnt have the talent we did....(even if our talent wasn't great, its still prob way more than he had.)

Obviously not, but looking for positives...

Lousiana Tech scored more points against LSU than Florida did and they had about the same number of yards. And it's not like LSU really let up. The game was 10-13 at halftime. I didn't watch that game or anything, but that's a pretty good outing for a school like LT, even if it is against Les Miles.

LSU Fan here-:hi:

First of all, I'm sorry CLK left you guys in such a mess, but I'm glad he's gone from the SEC. We don't need his kind!

Second, Coach Dooley may not have been one of your first choices, but he was the one that wasn't afraid of taking your HC job under these circumstances. So please, Give Coach Dooley that much credit.

Lastly, you guys are getting a quality coach, and a good man. You should understand what he had to work with at LaTech- Football wasn't a priority and the previous coaching staff didn't leave him with very much.

Yes, he went 4-8 this year, but his team went toe-to-toe with Auburn, Boise and LSU. I was at the Boise game. Tech had a chance to win but just couldn't get over the hump.

Coach Dooley has all the qualifications necessary to lead UT back to glory-

- Experience as a HC
- 7 years under Saban
- He's recruited and coached in the SEC- understands our league
- He's got that fire/ passion for the game
- He's a family man that will embrace the rich traditions of UT
- and the law degree shows he's very bright

I'm not guaranteeing you championships. We are all aware of how tough the SEC is. I am telling you that you've hired a coach that you all can be proud of.

He will work his tail off to make your football program is strong as it can be.

I'm sad to see Coach Dooley leave LaTech, but I couldn't be happier for him that he landed at Tennessee.

Good luck Coach Dooley and Good luck Vols.

We'll see you in Tiger Stadium next year!:good!:

Many have pointed out their "2009" season but I read this somewhere yesterday. At one point during the season they had so many injuries they had (18) Freshman and Sophmores listed on the two-deep roster. They lost five straight by a combined 26 points

...thanks for the sentiments, P&G Wheelz. I think UT will be just fine.

We still have all the roster players coming back, and the 2010 class is going to be better than any of us thought earlier this week.

As soon as CDD places the Coordinators and position coaches, an overall picture of the Offensive/Defensive scheme scenarios should clear up.
I think UT will be just fine.

At least the swine are gone.....:censored:

Come on, you know that's not the appropriate comparison. Talent-wise between just those two schools, you're correct. But when you compare the talent at UT w/ what's at UA, you're probably going to find that the difference between those two schools is comparable to that found when comparing La-Tech and Utah State.

Yes.... I can confirm that. A majority of there starters were either Freshman or Sophmore. Dooley was preparing Tech for the long term that is why every year since Dooley was at Tech his recruiting class was improving becasue he truly believes in playing freshment if there ready. Its just like Saban is at alabama.
