My Way News - L.A. blocks new fast-food outlets from poor areas

this is really crazy.

is this not considered fascism?

let me get this straight, a poor person can have as many abortions they want, but doesn't have the choice to get a krystal chick without having to drive or take a bus to hollywood.

No joe, it's not fascism now, nor was it a week ago when you posted almost the same story and said almost the same thing. Liberalism does not equal fascism. Seriously, google is pretty easy to use.

Nice work city council, why on earth would we want to let the market decide who opens restaurants, no matter the type, place, or time.

fascism "any movement, ideology, or attitude that favors dictatorial government, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of all opposition, and extreme nationalism"

dictatorial "fond of telling others what to do or of using power or authority to make them do it"

here are the definitions for fascism. i guess banning a private enterprise from opening stores in certain areas sounds pretty fascist. doesn't it emainvol???

dictatorial government- telling private business not do business in certain areas, using their governmental power to enforce. that sounds fascist doesn't it?

you don't know what your saying emain

I guess that red light on the way to work this morning was pretty fascist. I guess telling that plant not to dump their toxic waste into the river is also pretty fascist. Lets not exaggerate or anything.

I do not agree with joe very much, this is yet another example but you do have to admit that not allowing fast food in some areas while perfectly ok in others is a problem and will never hold up. But then again I guess it's ok because the local government is just saving people from themselves right? Who needs personal responsibility anyway when we have liberal government, we'll just let them decide everything for us. Can you start to see the problem with this now?

they're not banning all ff restaurants just the new ones for 1 year.

Nearly three-quarters of the restaurants in South L.A. are fast-food outlets.

I'm guessing they still have access to every possible combo meal on the planet. And since they're in CA they don't have access to the K-burger anyways.

I wonder why 3/4 of all restaurants are fast food in southern Cali? I think I may have an idea but wonder what your thoughts are.

No, I agree with you. Just grinding his gears a bit. :)

I think a better question is do they want better and will they know what to do with better choices? Without an effort at education there will be zero change.

My thought is considering the price of everything in Cali maybe some of them think they can't afford it. :p

Oh really! I guess you have a hard time recognizing someone that leans to the right side of the table as you do. I just happen to do a much better job at articulating my positions then you do. Also I don't tend to make an arse out of myself, but think what you will as I can see there is very little hope for you.

the first thing we have to realize here is that joevol thinks that since he has no clue what he is talking about, neither do the rest of us.

I didn't realize that LA had been taken over by a dictator, thanks for informing me though.

By the way, your fascist government cannot exist with an absence of authoritarianism, so no, this does not sound fascist.

also since Dems all hate America how are they exhibiting extreme nationalism?

I'm a champion of the free markets for sure, but doesn't determining whether it's fascist depend upon the reason for denial of the permits?
