I don't really like that thinking either.

We want whoever comes to be successful and success will draw suiters. That's just reality. Just try to get someone who will be successful first and then deal with the suiters later. That's the problem we want!

True. Right now we are bleeding so badly I just want good news of any kind. I was really fired up that MH said the candidates that have been contacted have been really interested. I don't care if its true or not it makes me feel better. On a side not I bet the UNC boards are in an uproar.

Are you saying that Heath Shuler is out of the picture?

What is that all about? Letting us know that Heath ties a piss poor half windsor?

yeah not a great picture... I used the first photo I found. I guess because I was excited that I was able to excersise my newfound posting abilities

"hell it worked for Florida"

"That said, Kyle Wittingham doesn't impress me. He is good in the MWC, but he is no Urban Meyer."

That pretty much sums it up right there. :good!:

Well welcome. The next few weeks should be plenty of fun for all.

Of course, nobody runs a board like Freak. So, all such boards are quite disappointing in comparison. However, I slipped over to the football side on a UNC board to scope it out.

It's a basketball place.. always has been, always will be. Heels fans are aware we're looking for a coach aand that Davis is on our list of desirables.

They're excited a little about football finally winning some games and not embarrassing them. However, they've got to figure out whether to go to their opening basketball game against Penn or see their football team play Maryland next weekend. That's about a toss up at Chapel Hill.

I do fear that Sexton will use us to get Butch a raise, but he is so far beyond UNC's needs and expectations in a football coach, that he really needs to figure that out soon. Davis seems pretty focused on the Heels now and their season. I'd imagine he's just blocking all this talk out for now.

And people wonder why he would NOT come to Knoxville?
These guys have egos. They like to pit themselves against the best to see if they measure up. If he is a coward as some suggest on this board in saying he will stay at UNC because he will be the so called king, then UTK does not want him. I think he would want to come to a place where football is the king sport and the possibilites are endless.

Moreover, UT's the kind of football program at which he could build a dynasty--and we'd all appreciate it--and I don't think he'd run off anywhere after doing that.

Hopefully this will also be the last time I hear it.

Look at the pearl hire. Can't you see MH pulling another shocker out of his hat. Its a name that is rarely mentioned but he has the cred to seriously be considered. For all the blather about muschamp he has never been a HC and KW has.

I would be very surprised if Whittingham got the job. His record at Utah since being HC the last 4 seasons is 7-5, 8-5, 9-4, currently 10-0. Yes the 10-0 sounds good, but the other years while his records weren't bad, they weren't great either considering it was in the Mountain West Conference.

That said, I would still rather have him than Tim Brewster. I don't even know why he would even be considered. He was never a head coach before Minnesota, only a positions coach at UNC, Texas and the NFL. Last year, his first year at Minnesota he was 1-11. This year they are 7-2, but they layed a big egg Saturday. BTW, this is the Big/Weak-10 he is coaching in. He has got to be the worst candidate on the list, IMO.

Here is one thing I am gathering as I read these coach threads. Anyone who ever coached under Saban should be hired because they will be as good as Saban soon. Anyone who coachs at Utah will be the next Urban Meyer. Anyone who runs any variation of the spread offense at the lower level has an offense that will work in the SEC because of Urban's offense. Anything else...

Take this how you want, but i'm at the register, and there will be a report made public soon. The register and 1 other news outlet has honored Tennessee the request to hold on untill they feel comfortable.

But I can inform you that the 2 candidates are

1- Kyle Whittingham - utah
2- Kevin Steele -alabama

1 of the above will be the new head coach

If true, which I highly doubt, I guess I would take Steele :dunno:

Don't know much about the Utah guy

Espn All Access radio station if you have it, will air a segment for UT coaching search at 12:15 ct segment.

They previewed ''Nick Saban allowing rival to talk with assistant'' didn't mention name but I know it's Steele.

I'm just the opposite, I would rather have Whittingham over Steele. With that said, I hope this is as off as most of the other threads. I still prefer Davis or Kelly as my 1st and 2nd choice.
