Kyle Whittingham (Utah)

1a: Gruden
1b: Davis
3: Kiffin

IF all three of those turn the job down, Leach and Brewster will get the next round of calls.

Is Davis still an option. I would be extremely happy, however I feel like he wants to build the UNC program.

That being said, I have full confidence that Mike will do fine.

Davis says he doesn't want the job, for the record. And I am not so trusting of Mike Hamilton. Its the same Mike Hamilton who gave Fulmer an extension.

Everything is going to be fine. And again, don't listen to your friends about Mike. Look at what he has done.

Our next head coach will by Kyle Whittingham from Utah. Book it.

This guy would not be a bad fit, I think he would keep Clawson and Drayton, and he can recruit and he knows Urban's Offense, so thats a superduper plus...........
But realistically whom ever comes in will have to clean house and sit some kids on the pine..................

You say "book it", then you say "just a hunch" in your second post. Your first post implies that you know for sure, and your second suggests otherwise. Why would you make a post like that? Just curious what is going on up there in that space between your ears?

I don't have any inside info or anything. Actually a relative I have who knows MH says he is torn between lane kiffin and not wanting an nfl guy. I think if you look at the college football landscape combined with what tennessee is looking for KW seems to fit the bill.

Thanks for the clarification, Rex.

I have heard from someone on this board whom I trust that LK is mike's #1 choice which jibes with what my cousin told me.

Denzel is our next coach. You heard it here first.

Actually, I heard Richard Simmons is being strongly considered. He told Hamilton he could whip them into shape fast.

That sounds so narrow-minded. Not all NFL guys are alike and not all Utah coaches will become Urban Meyers.

This may be too big of a decison for one man who sees the landscape with such stereotypical thinking.

Why no discussion of Gruden, Rex?

Not a bad choice, but a little out of left field. I believe he is a Mormon and has been in Utah most of his life. Don't see him leaving.

Leach is a mormon, doesn't mean he stayed in Utah. Same with Norm Chow, Steve Sarkisian, Mike Holmgren.

Bronco is stuck in Utah because he is a cougar through and through, but heck, Wittingham even played at BYU, is from California, his ties to U of U are not very strong other than his son being enrolled there.

That said, Kyle Wittingham doesn't impress me. He is good in the MWC, but he is no Urban Meyer.

My choice is Gruden, if we can't get him Davis would be a great hire as he is a great recruiter and a good coach. Plus we could grab all of the talent in NC with him at TN.

I don't think there is any way he leaves the NFL. If he did leave TB there would be several teams ready to throw money at him, like the Vikes for one.

I know it's wishful dreaming but ..Gruden as HC, Monte Kiffin as DC and Lane as OC. We'll back in the BCS in two years.

This really fits with MH's past hires as well. Young, high energy, head coaching experience -- and Kiffin has a track record of recruiting nationally.

I know for a fact the Cowher talk is dead wrong. I think the Gruden comments are understandable -- but it simply won't happen (though I really wish it would).

I'm nervous the Davis talk is nothing more than Sexton getting him a hefty pay raise and the guarantee on some facilities.

Personally, I don't know enough about Kiffin to have based an opinion yet -- but he certainly fits the MH mold.

Clawson and Drayton should both be working the deep fryer at Wendy's...I hope neither one of them stays..Start fresh and new...I am ready for a complete change...New offense, New defense, new everything...Let's rock

I believe that mike thinks a former league guy has success on the college level then the league will come calling again. Thus the reluctance to hire a former pro coach.

Clawson yes, drayton no. Stan can stay as far as I'm concerned.

I don't really like that thinking either.

We want whoever comes to be successful and success will draw suiters. That's just reality. Just try to get someone who will be successful first and then deal with the suiters later. That's the problem we want!
