He looked outstanding in that high school All American game. Looked like one of the best players on the field-even with McKenzie on the field. You knew it was going to happen pretty quick with him.

Absolutely! I was stoked when he put on that Orange power T hat! He has been overshadowed by the Khalil/Tuttle hype this week, but he will make a name for himself soon enough! And look who has their stripe off:bow2:

Recent history has told us that the first player to lose their stripes are generally very productive early on. Sutton, Moseley, and Barnett lost theirs early on and they did great things as freshmen.

Who all has lost their stripe so far? Kamara first, then Phillips second?

I'm not, Coaches keep saying they need Shy and KM to figure out 63 effort.

I'm sure they are trying to push them... don't want to give them a pass on sheer strength and ability. That's how you get the most out of players and get them ready to play as freshmen.

Maggitt may be spending more time at LB than we have assumed?

Given how he played last season, I think he'd be a great replacement for AJ Johnson if we can assure that we lose no skill or depth on the D-line. Maggitt, Reeves-Maybin, and a Bynum/Kirlkand/Bates on LB could look very intimidating.

Why?

I don't think he will. I mean... he's going to be on the field regardless.

Maybe he is suggesting Phillips and Barnett on the end, Maggitt as LB..

Damn.. If they did do this, and Maggitt comes up with Phillips to rush the passer also.... Oh boy! :)

Agreed - a healthy Maggitt will be on the field for most all the critical defensive snaps.

What I mean is if Phillips can produce like Barnett did as a freshman last season, then CBJ has the luxury to be able to shift Maggitt into a position of need. Maggitt has several years experience playing LB at UT and took snaps there last season. Maggitt is the undisputed team leader. Everyone says the Mike is by design the QB of the defense. Makes a lot of sense to me that Maggitt may be more valuable to UT this season as a Mike if there is an abundance of talent at DE.

Its all good isn't it?

I think we will see Phillips a lot, but Curt will still play SAM when that happens. Curt probably could play MLB but we have better candidates for tha position.

Curt belongs on the edge.

Rotation is the key word for this year.

JRM will be the QB of the defense IMO. Thig has been on record as saying he is
probably the smartest LB he has coached so far. Maggitt is the emotional leader. A lot of people have been saying(myself included) that if Jancek could find another stud pass rusher, he could move CM around and really use some exotic blitzes and defenses.

The staff has called Weatherd our best pass rudher. And they did move him around a lot
