Perry is a 19 year old RS freshman, rated the #20 player, a 3*, in the state of TN in the '24 recruiting class and he's earned his starting role on the offensive line, beating out three 4* OL in his recruiting class and one from the '23 class. We got him for at least 2 more years. Love seeing an in-state kid starting early in his career and making a positive impact. Could turn out to be the best in-state OT since Chad Clifton.

I remember all the whining when we accepted his commitment, he was a 270 lb OL on a team that ran wing T ( or some type of run heavy offense). A long time UTAD staffer said at the time that he really wowed the coaches with his athleticism testing on various drills, but he apparently has worked his butt off to get where he is today. Both mentally and physically.

Perry is good enough to start at Guard OR Tackle...a coach's dream versatility. He has been really good this year.

Sham Umarov is the weak link right now in a really good offensive line. Perry will move to Guard to replace Sham and Sanders will start at RTackle soon. Probably against Arkansas. Look for Sanders at Tackle. He played pretty well Saturday for his 1st college action. Sanders and Perry will be anchors on this line for a couple years and that's a very good thing. GO VOLS

Wouldn’t mind seeing Perry at left guard

OL is shaping up to be a real strength again and Perry is a big reason why...Sanders will continue to improve with playing time but looking forward to getting Kamari Blair on the roster..He is a BEAST..I hope he stays at OT but he is a freak at 280 for a defensive end too..Tough decision for the staff..Good problem to have IMO.....

Jesse has been a huge positive. Along w our whole unit. He is the classic under the radar 3* player that everyone overlooked. He just didn't camp hardly at all, but came to KNX and the staff fell in love w him, for obvious reasons. Of course, these threads try to import this narrative on nearly ever 3* player. But, Jesse is the reason star ratings are good as a group, but not personally accurate.

It's shocking for a freshman to do so well. The whole line has been really really good this year. I do hope he wasn't nicked up too bad. A week off couldn't come at a better time.

I have been really impressed with him, even more so that he is a RS Freshman playing a developmental position. He is on track for an amazing career here before hearing his name called on draft day.

I got to see him play a few times in HS, he was tenacious! MTCS saddled up and rode behind him to a state championship. He would generally clear 3-4 guys out of the play to the point the defense would have to cheat to his side, then they would hit you with a reverse or misdirection. I believe he was a good wrestler in HS too!

I think Heard goes pro, but we will return 4/5 from a good Oline this year. The Oline is the best we have had under CJH...its a big part of why we are averaging about 50ppg.

Came from a private school w not a lot of real talent to go against. He was just alot bigger/ stronger than everyone. No one had a good take on how he would be against elite talent. Now ya know

In my opinion we need to put Sanders at guard the rest of the year and keep Perry at RT he has been one of the best in the country.

Read somewhere where he transformed his body so much over the past year that his friends back home hardly recognized him--came in at 260# now 320#.
