Kudos To Dooley.

Dooley might never get anything done and it's very unlikely that he ever lives up to Fulmer's late 90s run, but there is no doubt in my mind that he will be a better football coach and is world's brighter than Fulmer. He'll say the right things and go through the right motions. I think he understands what he has to do, just not sure he can do them.

If he can pick out coaching talent as well as many people say he can, I think it's possible.

as we have been told over and over and over and over on here this summer, anything is possible.

Hopefully by now you realize I've taken off my orange-colored glasses when I say it though.

I'm not saying he will or won't succeed, just that his coaching style probably works better here than where he was. (And with that I hope I do not open the argument again.)

I am slowly becoming more and more confident in CDD. I still want to see the results on the field (as in competitiveness, not just W and L) vs UF, UGA, and Ala, and I want to see the final results of the 2010 class in Feb. I think at that point we will all have a pretty good idea of whether CDD has what it takes to WIN BIG at TN.

So Hat is CDD growing on you?

In the words of the late Captain Phil Harris:

" You can watch things happen. You can make things happen. Or you can look back one day and say what the h@ll happened?''

I think Dooley is all about making things happen. Fulmer is setting back and asking the latter.

I am ready to see the Vols shock some people and make it happen!

It's the truth. The most talented city in Tennessee is Memphis(football and basketball) and it is a good 5 1/2-6 hours away. Atlanta has far more talent than Memphis and is way closer to Knoxville. One thing about CDD that I really like is that he doesn't make excuses.

There's alot of miles between Knoxville and Memphis, not to mention some very good football players that would love to play for their instate school. They may not be 5*, but they would give their all on the field.

He hasn't done anything to change my mind about what I think his ultimate fate here will be. However, I do like the fact he is eschewing the "Woe is me. My job is so hard." path.

Jimmy Hyams asked a question about the disadvantage Tennessee faces because they have fewer elite in state players than some SEC schools. Dooley refused to use it as a crutch and mentioned the vast amount of talent within a short drive of Knoxville. That's the correct answer.

Hat...if I didn't know any better...I would think you're slowly starting top like our new coach

Personality wise I would say it's hard for anyone not to like Dooley. He's to the point and doesn't sugar coat anything. He's just unproven

I wouldn't go that far, but I am impressed that he isn't whining about the hand he's been dealt.

Once again, nothing to sugarcoat, if he got up there and complained about recruiting at a school that has had great players for a century he would look like a moron.

I still hold a great deal of disdain for his dad, but it seems that Dooley has been raised appropriately.

Having gotten to watch a couple of rebuilds up close, the minute you start looking for sympathy you give your team an excuse for losing.

Vincent Van Blowhard and Faux Paula Deen must have hired some quality nannies.

I absolutely love the guy but he came across as a more intelligent, smarta$$ version of George Dubya. :)

Such DUMB questions! The SEC "journalists" asked CDD about orange shirts, mother & daddy, kiffin, etc. Nothing about assistant coaches, scheme (one guy asked about the QBs) nor anything substantive. How embarrasing for the media crowd! Coach Dooley handled it with style & substance.
