I'm sure this thread will end up being deleted, or just full of barbs thrown my way about Alabama, but I said I'd come back win or lose so here I am.

I wanted to offer up my congrats on a heck of a football game. I knew that Monte Kiffin would have your D ready to play, and they were more than ready. I had thought that Greg McElroy looked bad against Ole Miss and Arkansas, but you guys made him look even worse. You also contained Mark Ingram, and that's not easy to do.

If I was your AD, I'd do two things: 1) Give Monte a raise, and 2) Tell Lane to go recruit a kicker. A big part of why we won today was because your kicker kicks the ball too low and he doesn't kick it very far. An above average kicker and that game is a W for you guys.

Another thing I've noticed in watching you guys this year is that you get better every week and you are VERY well coached. What Lane has done with Crompton is impressive. He made some ridiculously good throws today against tight coverage. As much as I hate to say it, you've got a good coach who is likely to do good things for your program in the future. I don't know if Lane will do in his second year what Saban did in his second year at Alabama, but I see a lot of the same parallels.

Based on what I've seen, it wouldn't surprise me. No Tebow for UF = downtime for them. You guys are going to own the east for quite a while I think.

Congrats on the hard fought win. I look forward to this renewed rivalry.

Also...We already have the best kicker in the nation committed for the 2009 class (Palardy).

We got the #1 kicker in the country coming in next year, also Crompton has looked amazing since the 2nd half of the Auburn game. Anyways a good hard fought game that adds to the rivalry. Should have been a Vol win today though.

Thank God we have the #1 Kicker coming in next year.

As much as I hated the way we lost, it will go down in the UT/UA lore as a great game. The day that Mount Cody blocked two field goals to win for the tide. Alabama fans will be telling that to their children for years.

This is a great rivalry, filled with moments like that. Sometimes those moments don't go our way, sometimes they do. Here's to both Bama and the Vols for giving a game to remember for years to come.

:hi:

I sure as heck hope that Lane doesn't have an epic flop in the last 2 games of next season and lose to Utah in the Bowl game! :p

Classy post and a great game despite my issues with some of the officiating.

We have a good kicker coming next year, supposedly. It sucks beyond imagination that our football players beat your football players on the field, but yet we lost because your kicker was better than our kicker. GDIMFI.

Second time in a row that the supposed tool and moron and idiot Lane Kiffin has outcoached Putative Football Gods Meyer and Saban. Each time on the road. Each time with a vastly undertalented team. Tonight sucks, but the future looks pretty good.

Hey thanks for the classy post I wish I could expect the same from the guys I work with tomorrow but I know that is too much to ask lol.

Congrats on the win, we have a high ranked kicker coming in named Palardy, and I am really looking forward to when the talent levels even out with Kiffin's recruiting classes and this rivalry starts taking on national meaning...wouldn't mind seeing a AL/TN rematch for the SECCG.

Well, I can remember a former coach telling me that in order to win you had to perform well in all three phases of the game--offense, defense and special teams. We were better today on special teams, and those are a big part of the game. Sometimes you can coach your rear end off and still lose because your players just don't execute or the other team just does it better. Today was one of those days.

You guys didn't win the game, we lost it. Nothing special from your guys on the blocked field goals. Lincoln kicked them into them. Heck the balls would've hit him without him even raising an arm. That's why it really sucks. If it had been something spectacular that Cody did then I'd give you Kudo's. But Lincoln just single handedly handed you guys the win. It was a great game and Kiffin coached his butt off. Palardy can kick a 70 yd field goal so watch out. He's not one of the best. He IS the best.

No doubt. There's a reason why Neyland emphasized the kicking game. It's just frustrating because we should have won that game. Our coaches beat your coaches. Our football players beat your football players. And yet our crappy kicker lost the game because you guys have a better kicker.

I don't deny that it's part of the game, but it's really freaking annoying. Especially considering that great kicking used to be something you could take for granted at Tennessee, under Coach Cafego. To lose games because of the kicking game is an offense against everything Tennessee football used to be about.

I can appreciate your opinion, but it looked to me like Cody simply destroyed whoever was trying to block him, made it past the line of scrimmage, and blocked both kicks. If he's blocked like he SHOULD have been, then neither kick gets blocked.

I'm pretty sure that on at least one of those the ball hit him in the pits so it wouldn't have mattered if he had put his arms up it still would have hit him, or if he wasn't there it would have hit our player in the back of the head.

For a fan of ANY football team to have to watch their team lose because of something a kicker had to do with is sickening, so I can appreciate that sentiment.
