it seems that many think Fulmer will be here another year. if that is true, then he will obviously be changing some staff. this means a new OC or DC. what are the chances that this person will be our undoubted but unsaid next HC? it would give Fulmer his one more year(for whatever reasons), and it would give kool-aid haters someone to rest our future hopes in. it would also give the guy a year at UT to adjust, for lack of a better word. obviously this would count out any of the big names out there, and some coordinator is gonna have to make a lateral move, but money talks. is any of this a possibility? if we lose one more game, this thread will self-destruct....

So you think CPF is going to look for new coordinators who can take his job in 2008 and make the fans happy?

I have a drinking problem, but i never said anything like that

Fulmer's method of staying in power as long as he has been is to ensure that all of his assistant coaches are as equally inept at coaching as Fulmer is himself.

. . . because everybody knows that having inept assistant coaches is a formula for achieving longevity.

There are a ton of reasons to think this idea wouldn't work. That may be the weakest one I can think of.

I would love to see the entire defensive coaching staff gone. Maybe send Trooper over there to coach DB's since he seems to have a golden touch with whatever position he coaches gets better.

do you guys actually think Fulmer is gonna have an ounce of say for any hire? he probably wont even be allowed to pick the waterboy. this team is out of his hands now, whether he is here one more year or not.

if MH hires another coordinator, he has to hire somebody with fire, or this train is gonna go even further off the tracks. i cant see any legit coaching prospect wanting to come here knowing a new HC will be immediately following.

Fulmer is not going to hire his potential replacement as an OC or DC.

Fulmer is not going to hire anyone. he is basically taking up space because he goes fishing with his boss. the point tha i am trying to get across is that MH cant afford to throw anybody into coordinator positions to ride out the year with Fulmer. what if one of the "in the next few years hes gonna be a coach in the SEC" guys like Applewhite decided to come here knowing that the hc job will soon be available?

I bet if we win out.....the SECC....and the bowl game, he will do anything he wants with the football program....

If don't see any assistant with real potential wanting a job at UT because of all of the uncertainty surrounding Fulmer. Why hitch your star to Fulmer if you have better opportunities elsewhere?

no one will, unless they have a chance to take over his job.

Before the start of the season, Phil said he wanted to coach another 6 to 8 years. I don't think Fulmer has any intention of retiring in the near future and think the more people want him out, the more he wants to stay.

He is simply not Coaching anymore..............

turned this into a political nightmare with the paper ad

will not fire and make much needed and overdue coach changes...................

is not the coach of 10 years ago

not hungry enough..................

will not retire until forced out..............may last longer than Paterno......

will use every available means to stay as HFC until he decides to leave.........................

has forced the fans and AD's hands for a shortterm quick decision before it gets worse..............

will ask for a raise...................

Your probably right about that.. Thats a big IF though.
They would have to win 3 games on the road to do that though. I really hope they can go to the secg and win.. then win in the sugar bowl.. I just dont see that happening though.

I for one am just glad I only have to wait a few more hours for all this "if we run the table" talk to be over.I love the vols, but this is not a good team guys. way too soft on d....and all the other weaknesses that have been disscussed on here. sorry guys, I'm all out of optimism.

I don't see us winning out either, I agree we're just not a good team. 8-4 regular season at best, even if we win tomorrow, Kentucky will probably get us in Lexington.

If Ark and Kentucky get us, and one of those is an embarrassment, maybe, just maybe Hamilton's hand would be forced.

I'd rather see us win out, just have a hard time seeing it.
