Kongbo MIA?

Not sure how you can consider either a bust at this point. Richmond is a RS freshman and Kongbo is half way through his first season at the D1 level.

Pretty interesting how Bama's freshmen are balling out and owning everyone they play, while our 5* juco transfers are stuggling to even make a play.

Some games our highly rated/recruited players are no where to be found.

I am not sure who put this out there this weekend so i hate semi quoting anyone i cant remember....but i did read an article with supposed inside knowledge that he was showing a lack of want to in engaging in the necessary physicality it takes in the SEC and assumed he would walk on campus and be the guy. Dont kill me here i am just repeating an article.

I've noticed Kongbo always being one step away as Derek Barnett is finishing off a sack or pressure. He is playing well he is just getting beat to the play by an All-American. He will be a very good player down the line.

Everyone on here got excited when we landed him. Looked like a freak specimen...

So where is he? Like Richmond eventually a bust?

Whoa, hang on here...Richmond is no bust yet. Way, way too early to say that about him or Kongbo or MacKenzie or Tuttle, et al. All of them are learning how to play maybe the toughest positions in the toughest league in college football. It's a baptism by fire and it's grown-man football.

Have a little faith, dude.

He's new to playing the game AND having to play out of position a lot. Asking a lot of someone who hasn't played football half as much as everyone else

everybody thinks the new 4* or 5* is just gonna show up and be fantastic. why? "bama does it".

no, Bama doesn't. Bama is stocked with 5*, so if they have an injurty, they have talent. if they don't, they get to develop the best talent and see it compete against the best talent.. if they happen to get a freshman that is that good, and can contribute immediately, they have enough flexibility to get him in the line up, because everybody else around him is fantastic too. so even he's a step or two off, it doesn't stick out.

it's not magic. and not everybody can do it. hell Bama shouldn't be able to do it. nobody should this day and age.

Kongbo, Richmand, Kmac, Phillips et al...they can/will most likely be very good SEC players.

it should not, however, be a total shock that they're not all starting and playing at an ALL SEC level right now.

for most schools it does take longer than 1 off season of development. especially on the LOS.

Plenty of guys came in and played well their first season. Manning, J. Lewis, Barnett, Chad Clifton, Eric Berry

Number of years times 25 recruits per year indicates that it's rare for a first year player to perform well.

I.e.5 out of approximately 525 recruits? And you name HOF's as played well?

its why Scout, Rivals, and 27/7 recruiting gurus don't coach.. Quit making your predictions based on hype videos and players' (possessive) highlight reels.. It takes time,,, Especially at the Line, and absolutely in an SEC game against players who were so good that, get this, received scholarships to play SEC football as well.
You know who does coach? The coaches at Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, and USC who all offered Kongbo.

He was rated as the #1 juco prospect in the country. Hardly what I would've thought to be a "project."

And thats the problem right there. People just assume because someone is a #1 recruit either out of HS or juco, that they should just come in and succeed. Its just not that simple.
