Kongbo=Little..maybe

Personally, I see more Ziggy Ansah than JPP. As a junior, JPP was built much leaner than Kongbo and was, IMO, more athletic. Dude could do backhand springs all down the football field at 6'6 250. At the college level, his game was all about explosiveness, speed, and get off. The reason he didn't go higher in the draft was because teams were worried he would get bullied and overpowered in the run game.

Kongbo, on the other hand, has looked to have a bit more power to his game thus far. At 6'6 270-280, he's already the same size JPP is as an NFL veteran.

Edit: Didn't realize than Ansah ran a sub 4.6 40 at 270 lbs though...might not be a good comparison.

Keep his away from fireworks

There is no denying that Bob Shoop has all the tools necessary for a great defense at UT, but how he uses said tools may make or break team 120, no?

Yes, and that's why everyone feels so confident about the defense. His track record speaks for itself.

As a long time Vol fan, I've seen quite a few seasons where the expectations were very high, only to be disappointed with the record at the end of the year

Here's to hoping team 120 can win 10 or more games this year

Go Vols

I'm still sticking with 10-3, bowl victory included. Bama, UGA, and A&M are losses IMO.

That's hot seat territory for Butch Jones.

We have too much talent to lose 3 out of 4 in that stretch. Plus going 5-3 in the SEC means no SEC title game appearance.

I would fire Butch Jones if we flopped that hard this season.

From a physique standpoint he reminds me of a little bit thicker justin tuck. Two guys who were way too big to be that shredded

D4High,

Its hard to win in the SEC. Bama always has the best talent and best coaches. Still they lose an SEC game and win a bunch of close ones every year.

10 wins is an improvement.

We can beat any team on our schedule.

We could have won last year. I also feel like they could have beaten us by more.

I dont think we have the better team... but we can still beat them.

Have to beat Florida first.

Back to the topic...Kongbo is nothing like Little, physically. I do hope he resembles him in number of sacks, intimidation, etc.

How so?

We shoulda won 11 games last year if not for 2 epic choke jobs against Oklahoma and Florida.

I'm sorry but anything short of 11-1 in the regular season is a FAILURE. That's what we should have done last year against a stronger schedule and with less talent and depth.

This year we're more talented, have better depth, more experience, and an easier schedule. Its UNACCEPTABLE to go worse than 11-1 in the regular season.

D4H firing Butch Jones for a 9-3 season would be insane, use you head D4H, another coaching turnover at this point......W0W Just W0W

That you would say such a thing before the season starts speaks volumes about your knowledge, or lack thereof.

You had begun to build just a bit of credibility with some of the other posters on here and then you bring this ignorance and lack of respect for a man who has rebuilt this program from the ashes.

You are either young or stupid, or both.

Sorry but if Butch can't win with this talent, he will NEVER win.

The talent on team 120 dictates that anything less than 11-1 is total and absolute failure.

If he goes 9-3 we would be better served to find someone else cause we'll never win a championship with Butch Jones coaching.

The talent on this team was good enough to go 11-1 last year. But terrible coaching cost us 2 sure wins (Oklahoma and Florida). And then we dropped a game against an inferior opponent (Arkansas) because the kids were devastated.

We're more talented, more experienced, have better depth, and an easier schedule this year compared to last year. The players are good enough to go 11-1 at worst this year. The question is do we have a coaching staff that won't make game management errors that will cost us games?

If Butch goes 9-3 with this roster, it'll prove he's a bad coach. Especially after the multiple coaching choke jobs last year. We went 8-4 last year because of coaching errors. It was not a lack of talent. Our players were good enough to win 11 games.

I agree with almost every positive assertion you make, yes, we are more talented, more experienced, and we have some new play makers that will help plus a new proven defensive coordinator.

I am very excited about the season, more positive and excited than I have been as a fan in more than 50 years, (yes I am old), but funny things happen in football that cannot be forecast or planned. I will wait and see.

Your attitude and absolute statements are part of the atmosphere that makes coaching and recruiting difficult.

You are still either young or stupid, or both.
