Can't wait until Tuttle is back in the swing of things, I think there is a certain offensive lineman at Georgia that's got a lot of how do you say it devastation coming his way if you know what I mean.

He looks more like Shaun "Big Cat" Ellis to me at 6'6 & 280lbs....

If he plays like Ellis we'll be doing very, very GOOD!
:salute:

Used to love to watch teams trying to run the option to Ellis' side. One of the best DEs we've ever had. If Kongbo can play at his level we are in great shape!

Read that on Wikipedia? We didn't fare well against option teams. Nebraska manhandled us.

You obviously didn't watch the 1998 game when we played Auburn and Ellis destroyed their QB when they tried to run the option. I wouldn't blame Ellis for the Nebraska manhandling, they ran the option to perfection and not many teams could stop them.

Difference between us...as a fan I WATCHED all the games...didn't look them up to maintain a facade on here. Auburn was coached by Terry Bowden. They weren't an option team. Not blaming Ellis for anything. Not his fault that you don't know what you're talking about.

You must not have watched the game that closely then. Auburn was not an option team that year, but for that game Bowden decided to try to run the option against us. Turned out to be a horrible decision on his part that many questioned. Their QB took a beating, especially from Ellis who delivered some brutal shots.

Watched the game since my team was playing in it. Wasn't an option team and it showed. Quit trying to con us. You're not a fan of the program. Don't know what your agenda is but it ain't working.

He personally reminds me of Jason Pierre-Paul. Similar body type and size.

JPP as a 20 year old true junior went from junior college to South Florida and played well enough in his one year of division 1 football to be one and done.

Kongbo is a 20 year old redshirt sophomore and I think like JPP he might be one and done at Knoxville.

Personally, I see more Ziggy Ansah than JPP. As a junior, JPP was built much leaner than Kongbo and was, IMO, more athletic. Dude could do backhand springs all down the football field at 6'6 250. At the college level, his game was all about explosiveness, speed, and get off. The reason he didn't go higher in the draft was because teams were worried he would get bullied and overpowered in the run game.

Kongbo, on the other hand, has looked to have a bit more power to his game thus far. At 6'6 270-280, he's already the same size JPP is as an NFL veteran.

Edit: Didn't realize than Ansah ran a sub 4.6 40 at 270 lbs though...might not be a good comparison.

Can Kongbo make the difference in the Vol defense being great rather than just good?
I venture that Kongbo will be a household name for Vol fans come December

I remember the late Bob Kendall telling me that LL had worked out so hard during the summer that when August practice started he weighed only 209, and I don't think this was the year he started at LB - he was a 209 lb. DE with literally no body fat.

Ellis is HS was 225, played in the NFL as a 300 pounder. It seems like he gained about 35 pounds the one year he sat out as a prop 48

They're having a "fan" measuring contest to see who is bigger! Lol

Butchna is winning but Eastside is gona watch some more Vol video to try and get a full on rager and try again.

You guys be sure to use protection on those bad boys and strap on a fandom. 😊

Actually he is correct. They didn't exclusively run the option, but they did it some. Actually had a couple of big plays off of it on their first drive. That's how Ellis scored on defense. Picked a deflected pitch out of the air and ran it back 90 yards.

Kongbo isn't a household name for Vol fans already? If someone doesn't know who Kongbo is at all I question their fanhood.

There is no denying that Bob Shoop has all the tools necessary for a great defense at UT, but how he uses said tools may make or break team 120, no?
