KNS reporting Cutcliffe expected to accept Duke job

Good riddance. That will mean our transition into the 21st century has finally begun.

that would mean Fulmer would have to hand over the reigns to an OC outside the program with ideas different than Fulmer's. If you think that's going to happen, you don't know as much as I thought you did.

Well I dont know if there is any chance of Cut staying but I hope he does. If not then Good Luck man.

No guarantee of that. Fulmer will stay with what he is comfortable with and knows. I am not a huge Cutcliffe fan, but I am afraid of what Fulmer may do with the coordinator position.
more WR screens!!

what is it about his offensive play calling that made any of you wet your pants anyway.? I know that Phil has his hand on the veto button at all times but do really think that opposing DC's stressed over a game plan against us? does anybody have trouble figuring our " complicated offense out " ? i don't get the love that some have for this guy.

With him the Vols won a couple of SEC c-ships and got to the BCSCG. Without him they descended into a tailspin that culminated with the fiasco of 2005. He came back and they rebounded somewhat. Now he is leaving again. There is your answer.

My nut shell version:
Phil + Cut = medicore at worst
Phil - Cut = suck

For me, it was more the discipline and execution that he brought back rather than the play calling. We went from being a highly penalized sloppy offense to one that was very rarely penalized (think about how many false starts we used to have compared to the past 2 years) and actually executed pretty well (receivers and QB usually on the same page, few total whiff plays, etc.).

The worst part about this to me is that I fear we will regress back to having a sloppy offense. Play calling aside, I don't think one can reasonably argue that Cut didn't help our offense improve tremendously over his short tenure.

Congrats Cutcliffe, you now get to lead quite possibly the worst Division I-A program in the country, have no fan support and play in a joke of a BCS conference stadium. Not to mention the struggle to recruit due to the academic standards of the university and never being on television to show your program. But hey, enjoy yourself.

My thoughts exactly, but I hope he does well.

Nice to see so many folks chiming in to bash Cutcliffe when it has not even been announced with certainty that he will leave.

Hard to argue with that assessment.
