Turkey Creek area has lots of hotels and restaurants. And, if you want to get lots of Orange stuff, there is a Wal-Mart and a Target in that area. It's also on the west side of town, which is closer to the airport.

Downtown Knoxville has several nice hotels (Hilton, Marriot, Hampton Inn Downtown, Crowne Plaza). Better reserve a room quickly though as they get booked well ahead of time for football weekends. If you stay downtown, you can walk to the Old City, Market Square, and all clubs, etc... However, at 19, you may have trouble getting in most of them...

THere's also a nice Holiday Inn downtown at the World's Fair site....

If you can get reservations at any of the above Hotels, you're within walking distance of the UT Campus and all the activities, restaurants, bars, etc... in the UT/ Downtown area (you won't have to drive anywhere)

As long as your renting a car, stay out in West Knoxville around Cedar Bluff or up 75 near Merchants. Party on the strip or in the Fort, if you can get into house parties. If you're leaving Monday night, you can get a great burger at Parkside Grill (right off of Cedar Bluff) for $5 on Mondays. Very worth it.

Since he's 19, he most likely won't be able to rent a car.
