Interesting to see that the BCS title game drew extremely large numbers of viewers from the state of TN.

"It is higher than the 14.4 rating ESPN drew for a Monday Night Football game last year between New England and New Orleans. That was the previous high. It is also higher than the 2008 and 2005 BCS title games.

The game drew a 67.0 rating in Birmingham, Ala., and a 37.5 in Portland, Ore. -- the home markets of the two teams. It also did well in Nashville (28.8), New Orleans (28.6) and Knoxville (27.7)."BCS title game draws record cable TV rating - ESPN

Kind of a slanted way to look at those numbers considering this had always been a network tv broadcast.

the passion for football esp college in tn is greater than any state i've been to... if fifty million people lived in tn (born here)... we could fill a stadium at home against ala with 25 million people

wow, its hard to believe that Birmingham has almost twice the viewers that Portland has. Birmingham is two hours from Auburn and its a Bama town anyway. Does Oregon not care about the biggest game ever?

Oregon is a hipster state, they were too cool to conform and watch network TV. That's your explanation.

The state of Oregon:

1. isn't so football crazy
2. has almost no "casual fans", so half of the football fans are OSU loyalists who wouldn't likely watch the game
