I am bringing my son to the Vandy game. This will be the first visit to Knoxville for both of us. Need some advice on where to eat while we are there. He is 14, about 6ft, 225 lbs, starts at center for his high school team, so he can put it away. Thanks for the help.

I have heard of Litton's and we plan to go there. What about downtown, close to campus? Any opinion about Calhoun's on the River?

...Litton's is a great place ... ya never walk away hungry thats a guarantee!
Calhoun's on the river I haven't been to in a while but it has a reputation for good BBQ.
There is another restaurant along the river that has changed names (used to be the Tennessee Grill). Might be tough getting in places near campus on game day.
Aubrey's is another local restaurant chain and although they're not close to campus the menu is great and they have several locations in Knoxville.

Copper Cellar on the strip. Go to the original downstairs. Always a good time and some good food. Try the Cheddar dressing and the prime rib.

the only thing about the copper cellar is that it gets way too crowded down there to where you cant even walk around. it doesnt bother me, but someone coming and trying to eat might have trouble getting their food without waiting an hour.

Aubrey's has $1.00 High Life draft all the time, and they're pints, not the standard 8-10 oz you get with those usual $1.00 beer deals. And they have the best chicken fingers ever.

Aubrey's is incredible, def. a must.

Calhoun's on the river has very good ribs.

My personal fav. is Lakeside Tavern in west Knoxville.

Old College Inn on Cumberland Avenue. Have some mixed cheese bings as a starter then one of their 1/2 lb burgers and fresh cut fries. You will not be dissappointed! If you're feeling adventurous, try the Mett & Beans, outrageously good!
If you want something a little more upscale but still casual I recommend The Butcher Shop for a great staek cooked over hickory charcoal!
Both places are within an easy stroll of the stadium.
