Knoxville Night Spots

There's alot of places I always forget about.

Long's (drug store) had good tater tots.

There was a place behind Long's and Mayo's that was pretty laid back.

I had graduation brunch at The Vineyard. That was pretty good.

The Seafood place downtown (across from the World's Fair on the downtown side) is where my parents and their friends meet, but I always forget the name of it.

And Litton's was always good.

The Ye Ole Stakehouse was good.

Lucille's was great for good beer prices and music.

Let's see, then there was the Smoky Mt. Brewery, Manhattan's, BW3 and another Brewery that opened up in the Old City.
The place behind long's I believe yopu are talking about Ivory's piano bar.

Anyone remeber gryphons behind the hospital you could drink and do laundry like bud's and suds.

... I know it was on a hill side and just up behind a Shoneys? Nice Apt's these kids were put up in...
Probably College Park, now known as Crossing Place... many a long night spent at parties there during the summer.

The Fort gets a bad rap these days, but is actually not too bad. They've been building all sorts of new apartment complexes over there, so you don't get the same atmosphere as the rickety old houses... that said, I've got some buddies that live in the house on 18th and Highland, right next to the IGA. Some fun parties over there!

I lived in College Park my last year in Knoxville (96-97). It was definitely party central back then. Peyton even lived there. I used to pass him all the time coming in and out of there in his Oldsmobile Bravada. I wonder if he still has that thing. :biggrin2:

And a lot of blues musicians would go there to jam.

Yeah, I had a strange English professor that would give us extra credit to go drinking with him and watch poetry slams at Gryphons.

The nightlife in Knoxville sux now compared to early 90's I guess my favs were the Library/Last lap for straight up drinking
10-4 on that...i miss those places, not that i would fit in there now or anything, but those were college bars.....the strip is no where near as good as it was 10 years ago. Charlie Peppers, O Charleys....they're ok, but God i miss the good ol days...

What a great thread...i was there 94-97...i lived in Neyland Hills Apt. and in a house behind UT Medical Center up on Cherokee Trail...good times, good times indeed.

And my buddies all worked at Great Southern Brewery on Gay street....we used to hang out there all the time and drink free beer and drinks....talk about favorite places.....

What a great thread....brought back some good memories....vic and bills, salvador deli, Gus's, Ashley's (before it burned down) for a gyro....Spicy's was awesome, my roomate was a waiter there for a long time....never got the t shirt, but i'm pretty sure i tried it all....the Longbranch on sunnydays....the patio at Charlie Peppers during the day skipping classes....
Hawkeyes...mmmmm....animal hour.

What a shock it was to come in to the real world and find out that there isn't a special every day of the week....

Oh man.....i love UT. GO VOLS.

Great thread guys/girls. Ive had a blast reading it. I took up week end residence back in 95-99 with a student/friend, i cant remember the name of the place to save my life. I know it was on a hill side and just up behind a Shoneys? Nice Apt's these kids were put up in.

Ah, College Park. I actually lived in Woodmeade South, the older, "less nice" grey apartments in front of CP, '94-97. My next door neighbor one year was on the basketball team, but he didn't last long. I can't remember his name. Tall guy (forward?) from Alabama. I think he hopped ship with the coaching change.

One of my favorite memories was the big snow storm we had. We couldn't get off the hill in a car, so we had to walk to Shoney's for breakfast before sledding down the big steep drop toward College Park. Some girl actually broke her neck, I believe, when she slid into/under a guardrail.

Wow. Makes me feel young again. Many stories from that place. . . .

I lived in Woodmeade, too. Raymond Austin and Jason Parker lived there, and Ronald Davis was always rollin blounts.

Anyone remember The Bombay Bicycle Club off Papermill and Michaels on Kingston Pike?...had a lot of good times at those 2 in the 90's...

I think they're both closed now....

also, another club on Kingston Pike not too far from West Town Mall and Michaels....can't remember the name of it now? It was a fun place too.

It's no longer Crossing Place

Man this is bringing back good memories and making me feel old at the same time. Although I am not proud of it, dollar Zima night at the Library was certainly a memory. Couple of questions to job my memory.

Was Zarbo's in an old house, and didn't they play Spanish translation tapes in the bathroom.

Was killer Pizza in the dorm next to Reece Hall.

Did anyone else get so crap faced at Harvey Washbanger's that they forgot their laundry, or was it just me.

One more, what was the name of the place next to Mr. Gatti's that had all you could rink beer in the mug that you brought from home?

I thought that Killer Pizza was below Flamingo's club by First Tennessee on the strip. Man their pizza was terrible, but what could you expect for 3.99?

There has never, in the history of the world, been a better way to start a weekend of debauchery than with a Friday evening Vol Special at the Roman Room. The combination of Spaghetti, hambuger steak with heavy brown gravy, a salad with the sharpest Italian dressing on the planet, the always two day old bread, and about 10 Tallboy PBRs would propel one through the weekend in a state of bliss.

What was their Michelin rating?
