I hope the Sooners have exactly the same experience as I had in Norman last year; great food, cold beer, cordial fans and a GOOD THUMPIN' on the football field!

GO VOLS!!!

I am sitting at Adele's in Nashville with friends. Driving over tomorrow. We park at Calhoun's and board our rented house boat at Vol Landing tomorrow afternoon. Will hang our OU flag....everyone is welcome.

Enjoy the drive. You're going to see some beautiful country.

Welcome all Sooners to Knoxville. I hope you enjoy the stay and pray for an injury free game on both sides.

It seems the old powerhouses teams are more cordial than these new up coming teams.. No respect from the youngsters I suppose! 😂

I have been a reader of your board since last year. There are many knowledgeable fans on here. I have truly enjoyed the stories and opinions I have found here. My biggest regret is not being able to enjoy the game in person. Here is to a great injury free game, lots of color (Crimson & orange), everything that makes college football what it is.

That sounds like a great time. I hope you guys have a great time. You will definitely be in some great tailgating on the river with the VOL Navy. Not many schools have that kind of tailgating atmosphere. Man, I am jealous that I can't make it.

I just read a wonderful article about my beloved Sooners and their 1st visit to Neyland. I cannot tell how proud it made me feel but more so how gracious it was. We are truly excited and honored to walk on to the hallowed ground that is Neyland Stadium. Thank you for welcoming the SOONERS.

That just happened to be my sister and her husband, they have gone to EVERY!! away game for the last 10 plus years. She has said nothing but good things about her trip to Norman and hopes all the Sooners that make the trip to Knox .have a similar experience.

You Oklahoma fans should be honored to know that you may well have initiated a new Tennessee tradition: checkerboarding Neyland Stadium occurred for the first home game after OU striped Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for our visit last year. Does that practice possess deep historical roots in Oklahoma football? Is it something that you reserve for big games or what is the context within which you have typically done it in the past?

Striping the stadium has only happened at OU twice that I can recall....once in 2012 when ND came to town and for the Vols last year.

You think it is Saturday now, just wait until you get to Knoxville. You probably want to save yourself a little since it is still around 45 hours until, "ITS FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

I know it will be raining tomorrow but your best scenery is between Nashville and Knoxville. Hopefully, you will can enjoy it on the way back while reminiscing about what could have been.

Good Luck and enjoy your visit. Safe Travels!

Unfortunately, I will not be in attendance. I'm a broke student :banghead2:. I can't wait to see the atmosphere on the tube, though. No matter the result, we'll get to see exactly what college football is all about!

That is fitting: historically elite programs acknowledging each other as elites, regardless of present circumstances. You would never have seen that from Miami, for example, during their heyday.

"When the Elite Meet in Neyland" written by Mike Strange is the article. Roger that on the 'Cane. We won an NC and lost only 3 games in the '84-'86 span, all three to Miami. In the old Orange Bowl their fans were the worst we have experienced by far.

I know you have to have a parking pass (ironic) even for the water but be sure you are in the stadium at least 25 minutes before kickoff. The pregame tradition from the Pride of the Southland band is more than just running through the T. They will even salute the OU fans by playing your fight song in front of the visitor section. Its always an impressive show.

Thank you....its a wonderful article. Obviously I love the Sooners but I don't think I have ever read a more gracious piece ib an opposing team' local paper. It was very emotional for me.

I can't wait for the game tomorrow. I always enjoy meeting opposing fans and swapping road trip stories. OU is certainly one the elite programs in the history of college football.

I still remember the 1990 UT vs. ND game in Knoxville. There was simply a level of respect between both fan bases. I can't recall another school's band performing their pregame show in Neyland but ND's band did that day. After they left the field and UT's band took the stage is was so loud...for pregame.

Gonna be fun tomorrow. I just hope I can shake this head cold I have to fully enjoy it.
