Hitting the Strip tomorrow afternoon. Haven't been to the Strip in at least 10 years. Any pointers on the better bars. I heard the old Hawkeyes has reopened under another name. I know Hannah's is still there.

Tin Roof is a good bar but very crowded.
Goal Post (OCI located at Chili's old building) is less busy and still good.
Fort Sanders Yacht Club isn't bad, but not my thing.
Half Barrel is good, but more expensive than Tin Roof.

it used to be OCI. WTF they shut it down. I don't know where to go.

Half Barrel?

Half Barrel?

OCI had to move to Chili's location because the building wasn't up to code. When they moved, they tried to bring the name, but it was tied to the location legally. The owner, cooks, and staff all went to the new building, but it's now called Goal Post Tavern.

You'll have to give me an idea of where Half Barrel and Tin Roof are.

When I was in school you had Hannah's, New Amsterdam, O'Charley's, Charlie Peppers, Longbranch Saloon Old College Inn, Flamingo's, some lame sports bar called Mike & Willy's ?

Is Lucille's still around in the old city?

Hannah's, New Amsterdam, and Longbranch are still there. Tin Roof replaced O'Charley's. OCI is now where Chili's used to be. I'm not sure what Half Barrel used to be. I've never been to Longbranch.

Long Branch sucks. The bartenders can be real pricks if you're not a stoner like everyone else in there. You've also got the Roaming Gnome right above Stefano's. They've got animal hour from 9-10, $1 beers and $2 well drinks. Gets really crowded though and kind of sucks trying to get drinks sometimes.

There's also Coolbeans on the same block as Long Branch, but on the backside (Lake Avenue I think?). It's not bad, but can get a little fratty for my taste on the weekends.

Tin Roof is pretty cool, they've had a band playing most of the times I've ever been. Half Barrel is really nice but a little pricy. GPT (formerly OCI) is still pretty good. Doesn't seem like as many people go since they changed locations. I don't know anyone that goes to Hannah's, and the only time I've been in there was at about 11 o'clock and we were the only group in the whole place. I have yet to venture into Rumorz and I plan to keep it that way. Never really been to New Amsterdam or the yacht club.

I've been to Cool Beans back in the day when it first opened and it was fratty then.

if you're older than college-aged. Downtown is a better scene

Without a doubt.

Preservation Pub, Sapphire, Downtown Grill and Brewery, Latitude 35... there are a couple of places in the Old City, too.

where is Sapphire and Latitude 35?

When I used to hit the old city there was Manhattan's, Barley's, Patrick O Sullivans, and the Great Southern Brewery on Gay Street.

I know Patrick and Manhattan's closed. What about Lucille's?

Barley's had this awesome pumpkin ale around this time last year. If you go and they have it definitely give it a try. I've never heard of/been to the other places you listed however.

Latitude 35 is in market square, I believe Sapphire is in the old city.

Preservation Pub is a lot of fun, I was there the friday before the LSU game and it was a great time.

As far as the strip goes, I felt kind of old and out of place at all the bars on the strip and I'm only 25, but Cool Beans is the best of what is left there. The clientele is, and has always been, mostly Greek, but I like that.
