Knecht traded to the Hornets | RESCINDED

I hate it for Dalton. He has just gone from one of the highest profile, glamour teams in the league to a franchise nobody pays any attention to. Maybe it will mean more minutes and a larger role for him? It just became much harder to watch his games now. I couldn't tell you the last time I watched any part of a Hornets game. That is a dead end franchise. This is kind of a bummer. I was excited when he was drafted by LA.
He’s a 4 hour drive away though so maybe you can go check him out in person sometime. Hope all is well with you BB!

"The Lakers gave up more draft equity to get Williams than they did to get Dončić! The injury-plagued big man fits a specific niche on their team when healthy, as a giant rebounder and shot-blocker who can finish around the rim. However, he hasn’t really been the type of rim-runner that you might imagine thriving next to Dončić.

One other item that had to tempt the Lakers is that Williams is on his rookie contract through 2026, making just $6.3 million next season. That should allow the Lakers to more easily add other pieces to the lineup. One can fairly question, however, whether it was worth the last chips the Lakers had left to play in their 2031 first and Knecht." — John Hollinger, senior NBA writer

The second I read that Pelinka was able to talk Nico off demanding Knecht in the Luka trade, I'm like oh they are about to trade his ass to someone else

Well, watch them now because of him .

It's better for him to get reps on a team with no championship pressure and get away from the 2nd largest media market in the country. Has time to develop and get a huge 2nd contract somewhere instead being under scrutiny like he was in LA.

Never understood that. What prohibits a 80% non resident sports income tax being enforced?
Probably the league would move the team if a state tried something like that. Players association would definitely be willing to boycott a market over that kind of thing.

Well he is going to a horrible team, but he will get a lot more minutes and may grow more professionally. Kinda tough, but I was growing tired of the Lakers putting DK in the corner and having him stand there watching LeBron. Would be the same with Luka. JJ said early that he wanted DK to be a movement shooter but I never saw much of it.

This is my view as well. As long as James is there the Lakers were always going to be about winning now, and they had to have a center. The good things are:

1. I don't have to feign rooting for the Lakers for DK's sake and having to watch the odious James, which I would never do except to see DK play.

2. Dalton is in a spot where he can hopefully grow and mature as a player where he has a bigger role on a young team. With new management, maybe the Hornets can actually become a competitive team, and it would be cool to see him grow with an improving team. Or he could get moved to a contender at some point.

Either way, he is still a rookie with a long way to go in his career. Just improve his all around game, and good things will eventually come.

My favorite thing about this deadline is that now my least favorite players are all on the lakers and there are no vols left on the lakers to keep me from actively rooting for them to fail.

I just spent $275 on tickets for my bride and one of my boys to go to the Lakers game at Charlotte because he wanted to watch Knecht play.

If I had waited a week, I could have spent $100 to take the entire family to watch Dalton play Minnesota. 🤣

Oh well, my son got to see LeBron, who is one of the all-time greats, and AD put up 40, so he got to see a show.

I would resell them I'm sure you can get your money back cause others want to see Lebron and Luka

It was last week, so I got what I paid for. I just would have been happy to pay less for the same. ;)

Of course, with the trade news, I am already looking at taking the whole family in for the Saturday of Spring Break when the oldest is back from Chapel Hill.

Short drive to the Charlotte light rail, train in, dinner and ballgame for 5 for under $200? Cheaper than a Saturday Tennessee baseball game for the family! (But not nearly as fun.) The kid is still gonna have to wear his Lakers Knecht jersey, though, I am not buying a new one when the old one has only been worn once!
