Kirkland is OUT Saturday

He's not nearly as important on the roster vs. the teams following Alabama. If he's 100% he needs to play.

He originally said if we beat a&m then rest him for bama so he can be 100% for the rest of the season. He is entirely as important on the roster vs. the teams following Alabama because everyone of those teams except TN Tech is in the SEC east. USC and Missouri are always tough games. Lose one of those and we would be in trouble if Florida gets hot. I believe that's the point he's trying to make.

odd matchup....no point of reference, we've played them so little I don't know what to expect. Special teams big plays may be the key to WGWTFA.

Excuse me. I must have wondered into a nursery by accident because all this hand wringing and slobber crying doesn't happen in an adult setting. Suck it up and man up one more time. Remind me never to take y'all to a battle anytime soon!!! 😠

Maybin out
Kirkland out
Hurd day to day

Sutton out
Sapp out

We need our offense to engineer a Hurd of 8+ minute TD drives to keep our D fresh.

Sounds like the last two weeks minus Hurd and I bet he plays. Hurd practices in Green anyway. We need him on Saturday. GBO!!!

You are lying about being a Vol fan. No Vol fan would bet money against his team. If you are a Vol fan then you are a really bad one.

I was just thinking the same thing. If it were up to these guys we would've lost already. They forget that this team believes in each other and believes in their coaches. They must have forgotten about the "CEO" the vols have running the offense. An orange storm is headed towards Texas!

The more I hear and read, the more I'm thinking Hurd won't be a go this weekend. Gonna fall to AK, Kelly and Fils Aime I think. I honestly don't know of a team in America that has been devastated by injuries like we have. On paper, aTm should have an easy time of it this weekend. A win by UT would be shocking and a huge upset. That we're 5-0 at this point under these circumstances is nothing short of incredible.

Lots of teeth gnashing going on. I don't get it. The Vols are a touchdown dog on the road against a decent SEC opponent. Yes, missing some good players, but they are 5-0, have beat two ranked teams and have not yet played more than a half of any one game at, or near their potential. I'm looking forward to the game.

Are we listening to a different broadcast? I'm pretty sure he hasn't said anything about DK at TAMU. He said something about how it was a testament to our defense to have our best three players out the last couple of games; JRM, Sutton, and DK. Nothing about this week's players.
IF he really said this, it's just more coach speak or he's a total moron. Anyone with a pulse knows Barnett is one of the three best, most would say he is THE best defensive player bar none.

Wow. We are decimated with injuries in the most important year. Sigh

A testament to our recruiting and next man up talent. Serviceable backups are hard to find. Hard to believe we are winning big games without 3 starters-two captains- on Defense.

Was recruiting people for battle from Volnation an actual option before reading this thread?

I kid, I kid. I get your point. I guess I'm just not as worried as many because of how the last 2 weeks have worked out. We've got mojo. This team doesn't quit. And, say we split aTm and Bama. All of our goals our still in place. I almost feel like we are playing with house money at this point and have no worries about Saturday. Just feel like we can gut out a win.

Stating the obvious here, but Jumper, McDowell, and possibly Bates will have to step up more than ever before. The offense needs to be consistent in order to keep the defense fresh as well. Our potentially spectacular defensive line is going to have to shoulder a lot of the load on that side of the ball.

If we win against A&M, I say keep Kirkland out for Bama. We have a bye week the next week and if we're 6-0, beating Bama is not a must have. Having Kirkland 100% for a playoff run is more important.

I'd like to see Kirkland back against South Carolina after the bye week.

I agree with this 100%. Beating Bama in Knox is just a another regular season win and streak ended, but beating them in Atlanta is another streak ended, SEC championship and and puts us in the playoffs to play for it all.

LOL, you obviously are naive about betting. Successful bettors bet with their head , not with their heart. Being a fan or non fan has nothing to do with it.

Our usual nega vols poo pooing our chances, acting like a@m while good is some world beater not capable of losing. We will come in and play very good this week. I expect us to win. I am a fan no matter what, but I don't give up games before they kick off. We have a small segment of whiny wimpy fans that always go ultra negative. To heck with them.
GBO!!!!!!!!

Remember after the Va Tech game when Butch said Kirkland would be out for sure next week and after that it would be a week by week decision and some of us were really happy thinking that meant he would be able to play against UF and we made fun of all the Web MD posters who said "it's a major injury and he'll be out for multiple weeks"...those were good times

I don't think aTm are world beaters, but I do think we'll beat ourselves. We've dropped way too many passes the past 2 weeks for me to be confident that we can outscore them. If our WRs, TEs, and RBs catch all the balls that hit them in the hands then we have a shot
