next year we contend in the sec east

I dont wanna start crap and a flame war, but I honestly do not think UT will be better next year than this year... The year after will be the big breakout year in my opinion. Breaking in a freshman qb and a whole new defense will be tough... I know everyone is high on BB but tough to replace MH... I absolutely think UT is on the right trail but I dont think it is next year... tough schedule as well if I am not mistaken.

Kirk Herbstreit just said that the Vols are back!

I figured I would say this, too since everybody else was repeating what was said in the first frigging post like it was the first time it had ever been mentioned.

Oh yeah...and he also said that you'd better get your shots in now. In case nobody heard.

I think Fowler's hatred (if he really has any) more likely stems from the 1995 post-game after UT beat down my bama boys 41-14 and a drunk UT fan nearly drilled him with a softball sized chunk of ice during a commercial break. To be drunk, that guy had a helluva arm and was pretty accurate! I just happened to be looking in the direction of the guy (about 20 feet from me) when he threw it. It hit right next to Fowler's elbow on the counter top. I immediately thought two things: 1) Fowler is going to kick this guy's ass (I wish you could have seen his face, he was PISSED!) and 2) where the hell did that guy get a chunk of ice that big after the game? I guess he had some rock salt on his ice in a cooler. It was about 45 minutes after the game so I guess he had enough time to stop by the truck to get in to the beer stash. I wish that was on youtube.

That crap gets on my nerves. Last year my cousin, who was in 7th grade by the way, had to sit beside a drunk UT fan. He was cussing Bama and using racial slurs to put down Bama fans. Finally, a Bama guy comes over and kicks his ever loving tail. I think everybody, including VOLS fans, were glad someone shut him up. :) Nothing's worse than a loud mouth drunk. I love the VOLS and most people from TN are the salt of the earth but we do have some "trailer trash" and I'll be the first to admit that (I use that term loosly because it has nothing to do with what you live in). I know some people may think I'm old school or soft or whatever and that's fine with me. A person coming to Neyland stadium should be treated with respect in my opinion (and no I don't care how other fans act). I mean I want them to leave with an L but with fond memories of the people of TN. Oh well, just a dream I guess.

There are lots of buttholes everywhere. Percentage wise, I'd say it's pretty even across the board from one team to the next. Alcohol can definitely add to the factor and most of the time the perpetrator thinks he is being cool and doesn't realize that everybody wants him (or her) to just STFU, but they know that the only thing that is going to do that is a good old fashioned "woodshed job", and they don't want to have to deal with it...so they just tolerate the loud mouthed boor and hope somebody else will do it.

I just can't understand why somebody would spend all that money to get to the game, then get so drunk they forget everything anyway. What's the point?

Seriously though, what is wrong with Corso<? Dude looked confused and lost...I don't know if ESPN should worry about him more than Lou Holtz.

I like the fact that they recognize the the positive direct in which we are headed, but I just want a win tonight against the Gamecocks . . . I don't care how many accolades we get, a big win over a top-25 ranked team will be the best compliment we can get to boost our status and really signal that we are on the way back.

Tonight, close doesn't cut it. We need a win.

A win tonight cements the comments. A loss doesn't make them false but just delays everyone else seeing the upswing.

We may not be breaking in a freshman QB. It could be Simms or Newton instead. Regardless, the only big losses on the D will be Berry (if he leaves) and Rico. I think the benefit of it being our 2nd year in both systems will outweigh having to replace Crompton. There will be no dropoff from Hardesty to Bryce either, IMO. If our O-Line steps up, I fully expect next year to be markedly better than this year. If we played the first part of the season the way we have since the UGA game, at worst, we only have 2 losses right now.....both to the #1 and #2 teams in the country in their houses. We have gotten better week to week the entire year......thats a sign of great coaching.

does that mean we now like ESPN?

Those of us living out of state love ESPN, especially tonight! I'm sure having the majority of UT games on basic cable in most of the country will help recruiting, too, especially if we have more games like Georgia! I'll be eating wings on the sofa for this one... Thanks ESPN!!!
:good!::eek:k::thumbsup::salute:

Chris Fowler was the only alalyst I ever had a problem with. He said in 1997 that "UT fans had trailer park mentality" when refering to the when UT fans were upset that ESPN was hyping Charles Woodson for the Hesiman Trophy. Thats as close to what I remember him saying, which is basically UT fans were trailer park trash. That all was a sham for Charles Woodson, Peyton was robbed that year, pure and simple. That was clearly east coast bias reporting and degrading to any person who lives in the south.

That is great. I can't even describe how happy you've just made me. I only wish it could've hit it's mark. hahaha Amazing.
