Can you call this a WOW hire? I believe Smart will be coaching somewhere next season. I wouldn't be surprised if he was in Orange. I can see him and Del Rio on the top 5 list also.

Keep Dooley and continue to go deeper into debt every game from lost ticket and concession sales as well as lost $ from donors who will no longer give.

I still do not understand the love for Smart.
He would be a huge gamble.
We have two of Sabans students now.
That has not worked out very well.

Why gamble on number 3?

I didn't ask for a name. He said they would go with someone who has previous head coaching experience. And has proven that they can win.


So based on that criteria, I am assuming we are going after successful smaller college coaches. But I really don't know.

Jackson, he was at the top of the list and if not for the epic failure of the Sal experiment you'd probably be correct, but I think the booster's have put the squash on anymore coaches from the Saban tree.

I've been in the "if not a big name keep Dooley 1 more year" camp but now I'm thinking lets do something now. If there is no other choice I'd take a flyer on Smart (I really hope there are other choices). I just want somebody to do something before any chance at optimism is lost (its called apathy).

How did Sabans lasts DC work out when he got out from under Saban. I think his name was Steele. Even though he's a Tn man it didn't work out very well. Saban is the Defensive guru there, not these other clowns. I do not understand the desire to hire Steele or Strong. These guys are not proven. We need a big time hire that can bring in top recruits immeadiatly.
