Kirby Smart just said....

UGA aren't very good defensively or offensively. McKenzie does a great job returning on special teams. Other than that they're great and scary!!

I think they'll be fine. They got punched in the mouth in their biggest game of the year so far and responded well. I just do think Georgia is playing good football and a week wont fix all that is wrong in Athens. Being at home helps but it wont help them cover, catch, or open holes on the line consistently.

I said this exact same thing about our vols last week. Little did I know. So we need to be ready and play like we did in the second half Saturday.

If you look at talent alone, Georgia has the #8 best squad in the country according to recruiting rankings. I think we all know this game will be a dog fight (pardon the pun). They're a good team and are going to expect to win Saturday. Tennessee better come with the business or they'll get beat

If.....IF....the team that showed up in the second half of UF makes a return appearance, we should be able to get a road win. If the first half version shows up, UGA will get to break out that hobnail boot again. They've got SEC talent. They aren't Appy St or Ohio. UT had better come ready to play quality football for 4 quarters.

Agree 💯

You can never really predict how teams will play. A lot of it has to do with the breaks early in the game. Some teams will fold. I think we know now that our team is not one of those. It feels good to know that we are never really out of a game until the clock strikes 0:00 with this team.

All of our players seem to GIVE THEIR ALL FOR TENNESSEE & we have the makings of a 15-0 team!!! I know it's coach speak, but we just need to take it one game at a time.

"They were probably the most physical team we played last year as far as just coming right off the ball and hitting you in the mouth," Smart said Monday. "We've got a great challenge in front of us. This is a good football team, and we've got to show improvement at pretty much every position."

//snip

he did not hesitate Monday when asked where the Vols have made the most strides under Jones.

"The offensive and defensive lines, and that's easy to say," Smart said. "They've always been able to get wideouts and get skill players, but he's built the program around the offensive and defensive lines. They've got a core group of offensive linemen that have I don't know how many starts, and I swear they have like 13 returning starters on offense because they've got guys at multiple positions who have started depending on what personnel grouping they're in.

"I remember two years ago going and playing this team in Knoxville, and they were physical then. They were really physical last year, and they're that way this year, but he's built it around the offensive and defensive lines, which I think is the best way to build a program. Their defensive line is a lot bigger than it's ever been."

"They're picking it up every year," Bulldogs redshirt junior safety Aaron Davis said. "I remember in high school watching them, and they — they're improving every year and their recruiting is getting better. They're really bringing it together, and I can definitely see the growth they've had. They're a phenomenal team."

Said senior center Brandon Kublanow: "Coach Jones up there has done a great job with their program."

Georgia is hoping to avoid Tennessee starting a winning streak of its own in this series, which Smart experienced as a Bulldogs player during the 1990s. The Vols lead the overall series, 22-21-2, with much of that due to Tennessee's nine straight wins from 1989 to 1999.

"They were very dominant," Smart said. "Peyton (Manning) and Tee Martin were both really good quarterbacks on really good offenses that were very power-based. This is a great rivalry, and it's what college football is all about. It's a pretty balanced rivalry that has kind of gone in cycles, and I have a lot of respect for their program."

Unfortunately, we could be 1-3 right now as well, if things were ever so slightly different, too :pilot:

Whoa wait...1-3? Maybe 3-1...App St was the only game that really came down to some breaks going our way that decided the outcome, and it's been the closest margin of victory.

Sure we were down to VT but we trounced them same as FL in the subsequent quarters especially after half time. Ohio U was never really in doubt, sure we didn't look like we were supposed to but not one time did we trail in that game. It was frustrating to watch but not really a nail bitter. Now App St was

Georgia had to come back late vs not only Nicholls but Mizz as well. They were lucky to survive both games. Ol Miss blew them away.

Yeah, but "unfortunately" we're 4-0 and our DC is UNDOUBTEDLY superior to last year's version. :wink2:

The 2nd half was amazing. UF players saying we didn't make any changes is absurd......Shoop shook it up and brought the heat. Very impressive

We will be lucky to get out of Athens with a win saturday. Yes they seem down but in this series it seems the underdog team gets the victory more often than not.

I watched the Georgia - Ole Miss game saturday and Georgia looked more like Georgia High. With that being said they will be ready saturday.

Warning to those predicted we blow them out, you better be careful.

Well, Sunshine, we are not 1-3. We are 4-0. Nobody will remember the ifs and ever so slightlys 20 years from now.

Are you sure you have, because we are every bit as good as we showed in the second half. The first half was littered with bone head drops. Take that away and it's a very different score in the first.

Look closely at all 4 games so far. The slow starts were all due to one silly mistake leading to another. The problem is this team has a mental block trying to snap and clear from early setbacks. They are acting a little like Lemmings, one jumps, and the rest just follow along for awhile. But once they finally get rolling and start making good plays? Then, they look like the team we saw in Tampa.

If they can get that nonsense fixed? We have one of the best teams in the country. And maybe, just maybe, we end another stupid streak. But I am not gonna worry about that for a couple more weeks.

Looking at it further.... UT still had a drive ended by an INT plus 2 more that ended with punts in the 2nd half to go with 3 red zone failures and 2 or 3 more drives that ended in UF territory in the 1st half.

UT can play significantly better than that on O.

especially against what looks like a defense that has serious holes.

offensively, i don't think anyone knows what they're going to get from GA. they've looked good at times, and inept at times (sounds familiar).

the thing i keep going back to is Ole Miss did what they did and they have zero run game. we're a lot more balanced, when we play like we're capable of, than that.

defensively, stop the run and force them in to the match up that favors us...the pass rush.
