Isn't his brother the RB coach for the Falcons. That would not be a bad addition. With his NFL ties, I am sure it would have an NFL presence.

Gene Woj. reported that he basically kept the players from physically assaulting Kiffin last night. I can't decide if that makes me like him more or less.

Did not see the presser. Kippy has a lot of high-level college and NFL experience--although I don't think his pro coaching career went well in recent years; hence his being at UT. He's got some positives, but this is a big management job, and it takes someone with a lot of energy and enthusiam and attention to detail to do it well. Look at Carroll--smart and very energetic, engaged. Look at Spurrier in his florida years. Look at Kiffin, even: Yea, he's a disloyal, spoiled prick--but he's got qualities that you want in an SEC head coach--energy, intensity, a bit of brashness. Look at Fulmer in recent years--dull-witted, slow, complacent.

My worry about Kippy, based on what I've read and the fact that he's a veteran guy--is that he'd be too mellow, too soft. That was Fulmer's problem. Soft doesn't cut it. Looking at Willingham--soft. Someone on another board said Kippy reminded him of Dungy. Dungy is an exceptional man, but probably an overrated coach who rode Manning's coattails for a decade. You can't be mellow and win in the SEC.
