Seems to me that there were many on Muschamps tip when they heard Hamilton was in Dallas. Seems like some on here said that Hamilton should not leave Dallas until Hamilton gets a yes from Muschamp, if it meant paying out a bunch of money.
Too bad all those facts are also true about his new competition. No more Idahos, Nevadas, or Utah States. Instead, he gets the last 2 national champions as rivals. Good luck with that.

No doubt! All some of us are saying is lets see what he can do with what he has to work with at UT.
I'm not saying hes gonna win a NC in the next five years. I'm just saying he is OUR coach and we need to support him.
The chances of Dooley failing are much greater than 50.

Kippy interview was after Dooley was hired unofficvally and I think that was wrong no matter whom bone its on! The staff Dooley got is seriously underrated because there are some provens on there serous proven ones too! Do anyone think Chuck Smith looks like Duane "The Rock" Johnson? Might have been put out there but I am just asking.

NC coaches dont grow on trees. The two best you have now are Saban and Meyer. Guess what? They were not born Head Coaches. They worked there way up, lost games, didnt win 13 games every year, and sure as hell didnt win a NC every year.
1. 5-7
2. Ideally Jim Leavitt or Patterson. Realistically, Brent Venable, Kevin Steele or Kirby Smart. I believe Tennessee could also have an "big fish" if they'd open the check book.
3. Not great until the new coach is hired, which would have been immediately after Vandy. I'm not a huge believe that one bad RC is worse for the program than one bad HC.
4. No worse than DD could be.
5. Thompson would have run the D and Chaney the O if I'm still talking hypotheticals.
For starters, you don't name him interim. You name him head football coach. You let him recruit and you get out of the way. If it works, great. If not, unwind is easier than it is going to should the current situation prove unmanageable.
I can't imagine expectations would be any worse than they are today.
I was all for giving Kippy the reins and letting him hire the D side to move forward.
Promising him a shot at the title and only playig lip service was absolute crap.

Kind of like Al Golden, or Randy Edsall? Guys that took crap programs and are now getting them in bowl games. Guys that weren't even approached. Guys that also would have jumped at the chance to coach at UT.
How many Bobby Bowdens, Joe Paternos, Robert Neylands, Bear Bryants do you think are out there?

There were stories and rumors out there that Edsall was approached and said no thanks. Golden should have been on a list, but if you've heard how MH put people on his list, it would not be a surprise he wasn't on there. (MH's method was "remembering" coaches from seeing "bowl games on TV" and "thinking" that might make a good coach. The typical nonsense athletic directors like MH think of when making coaching hires. People forget we owe Grunfeld for Pearl's hire, not MH.)
Given our experience with Hambone, I think we actually have to give him some credit for listening to the right person (Grunfeld) on that front.
I'd love to know the methodology employed by Hambone where the best replacement for our second greatest coach was Lane Kiffin + Dad. What is even more remarkable is realizing this was on Hambone's mind in 2007 when he added the sweetner to Phil's contract. Therefore, almost a year of planning, and Hambone dials up CLK + Dad. Unbelievable.
