Kippy Brown will be named coach?

I would much rather have him than that Calhoun guy. In fact I'm going out on the limb and say Kippy Brown buy Friday or sunday, MH said that this coaching search could end by friday, will be our next head coach.

I'd rather have him than Calhoun too, but in all honesty, the shoes are too big for either one of them. That said, Kippy should remain with the program in one capacity or another; I have immense respect for him for not following the Lame Train to USC.

Here are the names that will get Hamilton fired:

Kippy
Cutcliffe
Fulmer
Nutt

If he signed the contract with one of those guys while he was still the AD, it would be binding, so whether he gets fired for it or not, we'd have to live with whomever he gets. At this point, I am far more concerned with who the HC is going to be than with whether Hammy will continue as AD. Just get me a good coach!

This is my thought as well.
:hi: well I think kippy should be
HC he don't have to call plays or did ditches to be the HC he just has to put togather a coaching staff. And kippy knows the people to do this maby better than hammilton. Kippy was not the water boy in the nfl or a token coach he knows the game. Hire him today and stop chasing these guy that want to play hard to get or act like TN is demeaning to their character. Ask the player.:good!:

I totally agree with these choices that should by all means send Hamilton packing for good. The choices are dwindling down and hopefully Hamilton is buzzing the phones off around the nation. If not and he is settling, we will be set back worse than we already are. 4-5 years IMHO.

no later than Sunday IMO, most likely before then so there is a permanent coach in place when the recruits visit this w/e.

Why Kippy ?

1) Because he is the only person currently on this staff whom MH trust to hold the team together during this fiasco.

2) Anyone who saw his PC Wednesday saw a very calm and composed individual who can handle this mess and move forward.

3) He has Tennessee ties, coached under Majors, Fulmer and even recently hired by Kiffin. Those three individuals are about as different as could be ... yet all felt Kippy was a good fit with their respective staffs. A true testament to Kippy's versatility.

4) Kippy knows first hand the UT traditions, expectations, challenges etc. After the Kiffin fiasco, I would be shocked if MH chose to go with a complete outsider a second time. He must get someone with loyalty who loves Tennessee and has no desire to go elsewhere.

5) Kippy is by far the most experienced guy MH will find with extensive Football knowledge, both collegiate and professional. While he may not have the head coaching experience of some, his overall experience dwarfs any other potential hires. As he mentioned in his PC, he recruited Peerless Price from Ohio (surely everyone remembers him catching the TD that won the NC in Jan 99), among many other elite players during his previous two stints here.

I truly believe Kippy will be announced as our next HC no later than Sunday, probably earlier. I will fully support whoever is chosen but my money is on Kippy for the reasons listed above. I hope he is the man and GO VOLS !!! :good!:

+ He is the only one that will take it.

If Kippy was the best canidate for the job, why are they doing a search? He has made it very obvious that he thinks he could handle it, and if offered he would take it!

Kiffin left the program in shambles?? What is this volnation? I must sign up so I can post during this time of darkness and uncertainty as I have so much relevant and poignant insight to offer!

What a sad sak.

Kippy's Wiki page was updated yesterday and it reads slick, like a professional put it together. Obviously, someone wants us to know his bona fides should we go looking. I think he's a very serious candidate at this point. Once the Muschamp circus ends (assuming Will stays at TX), I think they should go ahead and give Kippy the keys to big orange bus.

Hamilton stated he would likely have someone in place by Sunday. That means three things. 1. He already has his shopping list ready 2. He is currently interviewing and making offers 3. Someone on the list has indicated they will accept if offered. It’s just a matter of seeing who bites. I bet we have a new coach by Friday if not sooner. I would not be surprised if it’s Kippy Brown. If the new coach gets the same budget Lame Kiff got it would be easy to put together a great staff and move forward successfully. Go Vols

Kippy Brown would be the best and most interesting story going into the season. I want a guy who wants to be a Vol for life. I don't want a mercenary. If Brown starts off rocky, I'll pull for him to improve because he's a Tennessean. If we just throw a bunch of money at some guy, I will not be nearly as patient.

I really hope it is Kippy now. I think if you surround him with the right staff then he would succeed. Keep Thompson, Chaney, and Garza. Bring in Kirby Smart as a DC and/or Rodney Garner for DL coach. I think we could succeed there and I don't think anyone loves this university more than Kippy according to what I saw at that press conference

If Kippy is hired, Hamilton will be fired

The reverse of that is a far, far more likely outcome.

Can Hamilton be fired in either scenario?

He has to hit a homerun with this hire..

Not a stop gap, stop the bleeding hire, but someone that's a proven winner, recruiter, and that can bring in a staff

After the debacle with Kiffin, his ass is on the line

I've read that people want a big time, big name coach, problem is where do we find one? These type of coaches are already in place (do we really want to rob from others like we were robbed) or they have a lot of baggage that comes with them. Right now we need stability and loyalty more that glitz and glamour.

To me a coach like Kippy Brown fits the bill. He has been a great recruiter before and has the X's and O's ability. He is obviously a Tennessean at heart and would be able to provide the stability needed at this moment. If he could keep the staff in place that is already there and add a few more components ( ie. Garner). This would allow the time to make another hire if Kippy wasn't able to do the job.

I'm a 100% behind hiring Kippy as HC as soon as possible. I think he loves the University, knows how to recruit, and will put a good staff together. Outside of any really big names, Kippy is the better choice over every other name I've heard.

I agree, there are no big names out there. Muschamp would be a splash because he's been coy and he's turned down plenty of suitors. Other than that, you are not going to find anyone this week who will impress the fanbase or inspire 4-5* prospects to suddenly want to come to TN. That being the case, get someone who we can all at least agree that we like and want to see succeed and do it quick so that maybe they can at least fill out the recruiting class even if they have to move down the board to get it done.

I think Kippy would work because:

-he is a good recruiter

-he has some NFL connections

-he brings some class back to the position, which we desperately need

-he is proven to be a good football coach

-he has wanted to be a head coach, but has not been, so he will be hungry

-he is a Tennessee guy, and is not likely to leave us for any other gig unless *maybe* an NFL head coaching job. It's not like he's gonna take off for Memphis

-the players seem to like him and respect him

The two major cons I see to him are:

-he's never been a head coach before

-how is he in terms of discipline? This is a big question mark. We don't need somebody else that is gonna stand on the sideline and clap when somebody fumbles the game away. One thing I'll give Kiffin credit for is that his team was pretty disciplined on the field. We didn't fumble away, and we didn't have a lot of bonehead penalties. Can Kippy replicate this? Off the field discipline will be another issue entirely.

I didn't know much about Kippy until I watched his press conf. the other day, and I was overly impressed. He is by far my number one choice.
