Big time upgrade from a coaching standpoint. With his ties to the league he should be able hold his own in recruiting as well.

Kippy Brown is a great coach. I don't know how strong his recruiting ability will be, he has been out of the college recruiting for awhile.

"Wanna get to the league? The UF WR coach knows as much about obtaining that as your pee wee coach."

here is a list of wide receivers that signed with Tennessee during Kippy's first two stints at UT. I'm not saying he was most responsible for them but he certainly had a hand in it.

Troy Hale
Vince Carter
Eric Swanson
Terrence Cleveland
Kennard McQuire
Thomas Woods
Alvin Harper
Anthony Miller
Vincent Moore
Anthony Morgan
Carl Pickens
Harlan Davis
Cory Fleming
Courtney Epps
John Pollard
Benji Shuler
Andy McCullough
Marcus Nash
Maurice Staley

Vince Carter? I didn't know he played receiver at UT

Someone explain to me why this is such a good hire. The man was the assistant head coach on possibly the worst team in NFL history.

For those of you who question his recruiting, there were some rumblings last year that the reason UT struggled to land the big receivers (Jeffrey and Brown) was that Wilson had no track record as a WR positions coach. The job Wilson did this year pretty much alleviated that but a guy with a lengthy NFL career coaching their position will be a much easier sell to recruits. While he's been out of the recruiting game for a while a guy with a nice NFL tenure and a proven track record as a recruiter (which LWS laid out) is a great pickup. As much as I liked Wilson this is a serious upgrade.

Scroll up the page and look at who Kippy coached when he was here. Those are some of the most successful receivers in UT history. I just hope he has the same type of success this time around. Forget Frank Wilson he was window shopping himself and got bought by the highest bidder. He won't be missed much if any at all.
