Kippy Brown leaving for the Seattle Seahawks (Merged)

I really liked Kippy but I dont think he is a good head coach with all that comes with it. I really thought he would stay but I like the coach we got and wish him the best. :hi:

Yeah Kippy came here to coach WR but when the other coach jumped ship Kippy righted the ship and did everything he could do to help save us. All he asked was a real interview and he wasn't granted that, I don't blame him for feel upset or angry.

Really? He 'righted' the ship? In what, two whole days Kippy righted the ship. Wow, how did we all miss that? He definately deserves to be promoted from WR coach to HC immediately...

How do you know what Kippy asked for? How do you know or anyone else knows if he's really angry or upset?

I like Kippy and hope/wish he would stay, but some of you need to come back to planet earth.

I am all for CDD but I think this is a valid question.

It seems kinda shady that Kippy was the one who was really wanting the job yet he was never even "interviewed" until the very last minute possible.:pimp_2:

If we compared both people's stats, Kippy has more expierence than CDD , and has more NFL expierence.

The only qualification that CDD may have on Kippy is the fact that he may be able to recruit better due to the fact that Kippy has been out of College Football for a while.

Kippy though, is a TN boy, he was endorsed, and kept alot of our recruits from bolting , including Bray.

What do you think?

Asked and answered in the other threads on Kippy. No head coaching experience, old school, middle aged, great guy and would like to have kept him but no. -- will make someone a great assistant coach - I heard he was going to Seattle. That was quick wasn't it.

He is going to the NFL. Per sports animal.

According to sports animal we had 4 other coaches than we wound up with. Sometimes I think they just report ridiculous crap so we all listen to see how outlandish they can be!:nono:

His last job as even a coordinator was for the 0-16 Lions. He has no head coaching experience, and just plain wasn't the best man for the job.
On the other hand, he would be a great member of this staff. I truly hope Dooley can convince him to stay on as a RB coach.

He got the shaft, let's face it.

If the NAACP think's Hammy sleighted Kippy cause he's black,
then Hammy and UT may have a law suit on their hands.

We're losing a great coach. He will be missed.

Better hope Al Sharpton don't get a hold of this and play the race card

How would he miss this? The most consistent message in hiring coaches is to avoid racial discrimination.

The only action the University can take to save face and avoid the well-placed attacks on the stupidity of this hiring process is simply to fire Hamilton.

It's not complicated.

Somebody may have mentioned this in the other 9 pages. If so, sorry, but don't some of the things Kippy's said in the last couple of days seem different in light of this news:

1) Tennessee was Tennessee long before I got here and it will be Tennessee long after I am gone.

2) Players should commit to a university and a team, not to a coach.

Mmm-hmm . ..

Incidentally, if Hamilton actually reached out to Lovie as we were led to believe, I think we're fine, NAACP-wise.

Uh yeah, I bet money that he, along with Cheney and Cregg, were the ones that kept our offensive class from falling apart, and none of those guys are sure to stay. We would be much better off with Kippy, and he would have given us a chance to have a proper coaching search if he wasn't up to it.

I thought Kippy had been out of ball a year or two? He isn't even considered if he doesn't get hired TWO weeks ago for the WRC position.

Lovie Smith makes over 5M now. I don't think a token offer to cut an AA coach's salary would be considered a legitimate effort.

The comparisons would be Kippy's to Dooley's resume and whether or not a fair consideration was given to both irrespective of skin color.

The University needs to distance itself from the hiring process. The best way to do that is to terminate the person charged with conducting.

Again, it's not rocket science. Don't overcomplicate it.

Some of you sit behind your keyboards, yet somehow know all that went on behind the scenes and now claim race played an issue and Hamilton must be fired. That's laughable. If Hamilton thought Kippy was best for the job, he'd have hired him. Doubt Hamilton could care less if he's white, black, pink, or green. Hammy's job is on the line, and you think he'd pass over Kippy because he's black? Patently absurd.

A week ago Kippy was happy being the WR coach. Where is he going to go and get a better gig? I think he stays.
:lolabove: Kippy Brown can get a NFL job with one P call, he moved back here because his family is from Sweet water. We needto keep Kippy. Good enough to keep the player together. Do you like being on a string. Intrum coach but not who give a care. Thanks Kippy for keeping our house from burning but run along now.

The news was already breaking about Dooley during the interview I believe, I also believe he left the Brown interview and flew right out to pick up Dooley. No matter how you spin it Kippy didn't get the interview he wanted or deserved.

They gave him an interview because the promised him they would. He was HIRED as a POSITION coach LAST WEEK. Hold on, read that again please. If you were HIRED as a TELLER at a bank. And the HEAD LOAN OFFICER dies, you don't get his JOB.just because you "managed" through the situation. They made a decision that he wasn't qualified enough to be the guy for UT at the time.

:hi: No its not because he is black thats stupid. Im blue eyed and white and I wanted him as HC. Its not because he is black. So is Lovie Smith. I don't think TN has any race problems at all. If anyone on here thinks that their dumber than a box of rocks. If he can't be HC we need to keep him as a high level coach for keeping this team togather. Plus he is a valuable influence and teacher.

He can't go work for Pete Carroll. That would be the second worst thing to woking for Kiffin at USC.
Stay Kippy, Please stay!

I am amazed at the fanbase. Now were racist because we did not just hand the HC job to Kippy! They have a REASON he was not hired, and if he was true to what he said about being TRUE to the university he would STAY. Is he upset because they just did not hand him the job? IF.KIPPY was the BEST CANIDATE left for the job he would have been HIRED.
