Kingsley Okoroh

Wow

Enter Okoroh, a raw prospect who averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and six blocks per game and shot better than 75 percent on his free throws, according to Westwind coach Jai Steadman.

Brook Lopez offensively is the best C in the league. His problem, like so many other true 7 foot plus post, is that his feet, knees, and ankles can't take the punishment of a 82 game season. When healthy, Lopez is the best scoring post in the NBA.

I think Marc Gasol is currently the best all around center in the game. I don't see many other teams. The Grizzlies don't need Gasol to score as much with Randolph in the post. He averages more rebounds than Lopez and was the Defensive Player of the Year last year. Great passer as well.

I've seen it. Shaq vs Wilt who would dominate who? I'm taking Shaq in his prime. Compare the modern NBA to when Wilt was there and it's not even close as far as athleticism and talent.

You are aware Wilt won the Big 8 hurdles championship when he was at Kansas?

I expect similar numbers to Mutumbo when he was a freshman at G-Town, 3 points, 3 rebs and I think about 1.5 bpg.

But if he's really 7'1 he has a higher upside than most. If we get lottery lucky, he'll develop into a Steve Hamer, who averaged 18/10 his senior year. I'd hope we can get 10/10 out of him at the least in a year or two.

As to the Shaq/Wilt debate, Wilt was 7'1 and 275 and dominant in an era with only 8 teams and most centers being 6'7"-6'9" tall. I figure Shaq would be able to put up Wilt numbers in Wilt's era. Wilt was more athletic. Shaq was much bigger and I'd wager as strong or stronger. Neither could shoot away from the goal. In Shaq's era, Wilt would be a 28/14 guy that shot 55-60 percent like Shaq.

Nate Thurmond was the other big man of the era besides Wilt and Russell. He was 6'11 and 225 pounds. He averaged 21 points and 22 rebounds a game for several seasons during the 60s. That's Kevin Garnett's size.

I never much cared for the Lakers, therefore I didn't much like Kareem, but he's probably the best center who ever played.

Rebound numbers for back then were crazy because the game was so played so differently. I would love for a guy to average 20/20 again. I think Kevin love has the best chance, be a better chance if he could jump but nobody reads balls in the air and uses their body better.

And how did y'all have a center discussion and I didn't see Hakeem the dream? Did I miss it?

Wilt was more athletic than shaq? Bro you crazy

Wilt had a 48 inch vertical leap and he ran the 440 in 49 seconds at a time when the world record for the event was 46 seconds. He ran the 880 in 1:58 at a time when the world record was 1:46.

So yes, Wilt was more athletic than Shaq.

For a (soon to be) 19-year old kid, I saw plenty of athleticism, or potential to improve his athleticism. He doesn't look robotic at all. Seems to be much more fluid than lumbering. Decent post moves. Good shot blocker. 10x the potential of Yemi or Pops, and has four years of eligibility. Un those two highlight clips, each showed a clip of him taking a rebound coast-to-coast, one of which he dunks the ball contested. The other, he is stripped from behind, but trails the defender all the way back down court and blocks his layup attempt. Those plays are not made by unathletic 7-footers. I like that he has some weight on him as well. He isn't rail thin, nor is he grossly out of shape.

For a team that is devoid of post talent, I'll take a chance on a kid with his upside all day. If all he ever does is average 8 & 8, and protect the paint with his shot-blocking ability, then he earned a scholarship.

This was my thinking. I saw a few posts about his lack of athleticism, then watched the video. He has decent athleticism for his height, looked like he had decent footwork down low, good timing and anticipation on blocks. As you said not too skinny, and not a fat kid, 7'1 250 out of high school is solid. With some work, weights, agility drills, etc he could improve his athleticism even more. Well worth the risk. IMO The play he got ripped on and chased the guy down was pretty impressive.

Wilt was one of the best athletes in the world when he played. His overall athleticism would rival any nba now.

Yeah, it's really hard to compare him to Shaq because of the decades apart. But I think Wilt would eat Shaq (espcially on offense) in a game. Wilt was ridiculous. He's forgotten by a lot of young people nowadays.

Wilt was an absolute freak athlete. Hard to compare eras, but Wilt was one of the most naturally gifted athletes of all time. Yes he played against 6 foot white guys but that doesn't change the fact, that he was fast, strong, and could jump like a deer. And that would be after being out partying all night with 20 groupies. Lol

The argument was never about who was a better player. It's about who was more dominant. Shaq dominated a much tougher NBA than the one Wilt dominated. That was my original argument. Anyways, back to Kingsley.

I noticed Bill Walton was never mentioned or Robert Parish. Both were great centers.

...what? Serge isn't a center and neither is Davis. And Sanders has been an absolute disaster this year.

Plus, Lopez was mentioned as a good offensive center. If you're throwing Hibbert and his 10PPG into that discussion, that's pretty questionable.

I do agree with whoever mentioned Cousins. And if we're talking strictly offense, Al Jefferson and his litany of post moves have to be up there.

I was talking defense. I guess the first guy edited his post. I Should have clarified

I saw Moses Malone play when the 76ers played the Celtics. I think he was described as a "Wilt with a free throw shot". Anyone else at the World's Fair game?

Don't know how I missed mentioning Moses. You know he didn't like the press so he always told them " I do my talking on the court. ". A great center and a nightmare for guards who tried to take it to the hoop.

We only have Kingsley for 3 years right? Does a prepatory school take away a year of Ncaa eligibility? Because techinically, kingsley is a freshmen.

I was just talking about his athletic ability, because LC mentioned it.

Its weird how lying about your height is fine, unless it exceeds 6'11.
I don't think I've seen a guy fudge that he is 7' or more. Lots of 6'6" guys who list themselves at 6'9".
I had a few classes with Steve Hamer. Legit 7'. Bad knees hurt him as well as playing on some really bad teams. A guy that size who can move can really change things on the floor. I wouldnt expect an immediate impact unless he plays really good defense.
