King Kongbo

I heard that he was up to 282 pounds! If so he may be the biggest DE that UT has ever had or he's going to play DT at UT.

I don't remember how much he weighed when he played for us, but, as an NFL defensive end, Shaun Ellis was 6-5, 290 lbs.

I'm really excited about this young man! Leonard Little was always one of my favorite Vols! Who was the QB for Bama LL chilled under the chin? Anyone remember? Actually, that Bama QB probably doesn't even remember yet! Kongbo reminds me so much of Leonard Little! Can't wait to see him play!

Wow, we got a know-it-all-I-keep-up-with-everything-probably-because-I-don't--have-a-job-or-any-other-pressing-life-matters-to-worry-about-smart-arse here...

Chill buddy. Not everyone has the time to read and catch every bit of information and every word of every thread posted.

You chill , BUDDY. It's three month old info, and try to keep up was a jest, not an insult.

When I insult someone, trust me lightweight, you will know it.

Freddie Kitchens. My favorite Bama QB :)

Kid has a lot of potential. He's very raw though. His athleticism is off the charts though I think after a few games he will find his groove and become a force to reckon with

I hope he can get into the playbook and retain all the info he needs and be able to put it into use in a short period of time. The athleticism seems to be there so if his football IQ can be up to par he could be special. I know DB came in during the summer at DE and made an immediate impact like a bauce but very rare for that to happen on the line.

And that may have been have been my favorite Bama game that I can remember.

"Touchdown, on play NUMBER ONE!"

-Mr. Ward

Can't remember if that was '95 or '96 (the LL sack, I mean). '96 was a really close game that came down to the last series. '95 was just total annihilation from the first play by Joey Kent. Watching Gene Stallings have a meltdown on the sidelines is always good for a laugh when I watch that game on YouTube. :good!:

1995 was the Manning to Joey Kent TD pass on play number 1.

The game was in Birmingham, ESPN Gameday was there, it was Manning's coming out party and the Vols won 41-14.

I was there at Legion Field watching the game with the many Bama fans who were in complete disbelief!

It was a great day to be a Tennessee Volunteer!

LL's sack on Kitchens was in the 95 game. I watched it the other day. That game was the definition of fun.

prediction from 247Sports' Barton Simmons: Tennessee's Kongbo will notch more sacks than any SEC newcomer.

"Robert Nkemdiche."

That's the comparison that has been thrown around in Knoxville for incoming sophomore Jonathan Kongbo among people with knowledge of Tennessee's summer workouts. Nkemdiche was a bona fide freak and it sounds like Kongbo has the same physical makeup.

...Now here we are, just a couple of weeks before fall camp gets underway and that 247-pound defensive end is now up to 282 pounds without losing the edge speed that got him 11 sacks last fall. Kongbo is still raw but as an edge pass-rusher, he will be a major impact guy for Tennessee this season.

He earned my respect by telling the truth, he came to Tn to win NCs. And then explained how it would happen, beat everybody. I'm glad he is a Vol. I trust his judgement and appreciate his honesty.

See you in Tampa.

I was there too. If Joey had ran up into the stands, about 15 rows up, he'd ran right to me. Great day to be a Vol.

Brian Burgdorf was the starter - after LL's sack I think Freddie Kitchens came off the bench to finish the game.
