Ok here is my full review of Killzone 2
First off the main thing that gets your attention is the graphics. The visuals in this game is mind blowing. Even later in the game you find yourself staring at back grounds and just the tiny details.
Campaign:
The campaign is around 8-10 hours long on normal difficulty although at the harder levels I can imagine that it would take quite a bit longer. The action is fierce from start to finish with very very few lulls and even then you are tense awaiting action. The controls feel a bit sluggish at first but after the first mission or two you get comfortable and it disappears. This is not your typical FPS as you HAVE to use cover. Try to run and gun and you will die often. The cover system feels nice and fluid. And cover is always available, but be wary the AI is very very smart and will shoot you if you have even a arm exposed. Speaking of AI, its evil. Stay hidden too long and they will flank you. Get the upper hand and they will retreat. It is very very smart so do not underestimate it. My main complaint is that you almost always have a squadmate nearby yet they never seem to be where they would actually help. It seems that they used all the available smarts in the enemy AI and forgot to give your partner any. Even still they are not a hinderance just sometimes you get overwhelmed and it would be nice for some help. One little note. The sniper rifle is more fun than any video game weapon I have ever used. It uses a combination of regular analog sticks and sixaxis movement. You get close with the sticks and fine tune with the sixaxis control. So much fun to use, I would love to see this used more in games.
Multiplayer:
The multiplayer is a absolute joy to play and very very balanced. The maps are varied and balance and each have a unique style and feel. All eight maps are a joy to look at and even better to play on. The game has your standard fare for game modes: TDM,CTF,Search and destroy, assassination, and capture & hold. It really gets fun in the mode Warzone. It combines all the modes into one round seperated into 5 minute intervals. It really takes a good tactical aproach and you have to be fluid in your gameplan. There is a class system that is also varied and unique and fits a wide variety of play styles. Soldier, Engineer, Tactician, medic, assault, scout, and sabatour. Each class has two abilities, the first is gained upon gaining the correct rank for the class and the second is obtained through use of the first ability. the real fun begins when you can start mixing primary and secondary abilities. You can customize your character and it is a whole lot of fun. It has the usual in-game clan system but it also has in-game clan battles and tournaments. Your clan has a valor level. You start at 100 and you bet valor points in clan battles to raise your points. My only complaint about mulitplayer and its more of a wish. I wish it had a party system such as resistance 2 and SOCOM. It is easy to join your friends games but it is luck of the draw if you get on the same team.
Final thoughts:
Overall I give it a 9.75 out of 10. I really want to give it a 10 but I think the teammate AI could be tweaked a bit and a party system would make the multiplayer perfect. I have to say for all the hype leading up to this game it really delivers and in some aspects it exceeds. The campaign is intense and fast paced with some very hard boss battles. The mulitplayer is balanced and a sheer joy to play. I cannot recommend this game enough. Whether you are a SOCOM fan, Resistance, or CoD give this game a try. It takes what other games do well and improves on it and leaves out the rest. It really is the pinnacle of online play for the PS3. A system seller for sure and something sony can build upon as legitimate threat to Halo as the top competative shooter.
