Now we see how Kiffin coaches through adversity. Is he going to be able to keep this team together, something he was not able to do with the Raiders? The way this team responds over the next three to four weeks (on the field, on Saturdays) will be a great indicator as to how Kiffin will turn out in the long run.

The team does not have to beat Florida, however, if it gets ugly early and the team quits...watch out.

Disagree. This team has no Qb. QBs are team leaders by default. The team might stay together and likely will, but Saturdays are very unlikely to show it. Some things just can't be overcome.

I agree with BigPapa.....and trying to compare professional athletes to amateurs is a stretch. The Raiders are paid to perform and when things go wrong their livelihood is affected which can get ugly quick. Kiffin's got a bunch of kids who just want to learn...me thinks its a little easier to coach young minds than prima donnas with overinflated egos. They'll be fine....they got a new offensive system (yet again) and it'll take time to absorb all of the intricate details.............JC, well we just have to put up with his ineptness for this year.

Crompton, for whatever reason, can't carry his own weight on Saturdays. Twenty years from now, a UT QB is going to have a string of bad games and will be referred to as "incromptonent." Once the dust settles from Fulmer's firing and Kiffin's hiring, maybe a few years down the road (if not already), history will record that Crompton was to blame for Fulmer's firing. Whether it was time for Fulmer to go isn't the issue. Fulmer was already on the hotseat. Crompton blasted him with a blow torch. Bench Crompton. He is the weakest link.

As I look over the schedule, I see very few W's. Maybe this year may not be as good as last year. Who knows? I do see an improvement in the RB's, and a slight improvement in the overall D. But our offense is terrible other wise. We have Crompton and Stephens. That's it. We just have to consider this year a re-building year and support who and what we have. If you're a "fair weather" Vols fan, then move on. If you're a REAL Vols fan, then hunker down.......Go Vols. Remember......you're no more disappointed than the players and coaches.

I don't understand. UT fans were talking about team unity all off season. How can the most unified UT team in recent memory already be fractured in the locker room after one loss?

Don't mistake anything climer says for the truth or reality.

I don't think there is one . . . but in any coaching change there are guys that wish the old coach was still around and never buy in.

AGREED! We have no QB. I'll admitt after last week I was drinking the Crompton Kool-Aid and I was wrong. This guy has zero confidence in himself and apparently in his team. And you cannot even try to compair the Raiders situation to this. That wasnt Kiffins fault anyway, it was a bunch of baby pros on a disfunctional team and Franchise! I think CLK and the team will be fine, again we just need a QB! Put Nick Stephens in, he has another year and will most likely be our QB next year unless Bray puts on some weight and impresses like hell next summer. Benching JC in the only answer I see to having a winning season. GO VOLS!

He's going to earn his money this year. There really isn't a good answer. Crompton wins practice, but he always has done that. Its just going to be a up and down year. Right now i'd have to say more down than up.

Now this makes sense..Crumbleton is the weakest link..Evidently this guy is great at practice but when regulation starts he buckles and twists and eventually snaps.

Ok let’s look at the bright side of the season. Florida is this week so we can get it over with. If we lose to Bama and to Ole Miss and win out, which even after this game I think is very possible we end up with an 8-4 season. Pete Carroll went 6-6 his first season at USC....Kiffin will do everything he can to hold this team together but we as fans are going to have to help out. If we don't then this team will self destruct...start digging those fox holes and trenches we have got to hold

I agree with that, but there were several players talking about finger pointing after the game. Eric Berry mentioned it specifically.

Disagree. The team has a qb. Tennessee has not given the kid proper qb instruction since he's been here. Fou rdifferent o/c since he's been here. A 5 star qb coming in out of high school that just hasn't been trained, and as of yesterday it remains the same it would seem.

Ridiculous. The kid is horrible. What is worse is Fulmer and Co. after getting the kid on campus did not understand how bad he is and solve the mess by recruiting another highly rated QB. Kiffin has a real problem here. QB is the most critical position on the field and he has basically nothing to work with.

Yeah, recruiting rankings are never wrong...

I have read it over and over and over about "Practiced well during the week and melted down on Sat". This has been going on for a long time. It is time to change. At some point I read about a walkon who had experience in professional baseball. Where is he? Did he come? Is he on the practice field? Maybe he needs to get a look....I posted elsewhere what disease Crompton may have and it has been with him on the field during the games he has played...Get the boy help or bench him...and I don't mean football help....

Kiffin is in a tough spot. If he plays JC this wknd and he continues to struggle in a big loss, Kiffin gets criticized for not taking a chance that obviously needs to be taken.

On the other hand, making a change at qb heading into the florida game is a tall order.

Arguably, the error here was in not making the change preseason.

Crompton will throw for two TD's next Saturday. Only question is which team.
