Kiffin's possible pre game speech for Florida

Fulmer's first game as interim head coach against Florida saw the Vols put up over 50 points in a downpour. Needless to say, we won,and this probably helped oust Majors. Rain takes away some of the passing game, which is to TN benefit.

I'm pretty sure this post is flawed....

Pre-Game speeches are overrated. The best ones that I have heard (and I have heard them in person ranging from HS to NCAA to NFL) usually resulted in the team losing.

Pre-game speeches, while often inspiring, tend to wear off by the time the ball is kicked off. Football can be an emotional game, but usually the team that is able to best regulate their emotions, is the team that fairs best in a game of this magnitude.

Well that is your point of view but when I played football in college it was a definite motivator for me and my teammates. The most important thing is x's and o's but a good pregame speech always inspired me to whip someone's ass that much more. Now a team has to be prepared and also be focused in games to have a chance of winning but a good pregame speech always helped me personnally.

Pretty sure he should use this one......

All right, Teague, you and Jones will play the ends.

And the same backfield: BB, you and Hardesty, and Crompton will take the snaps.

Now, it's the test of any team, men.

Based on team-play - everythin' shown all year -: Sacrifice; unselfish sacrifice!

These are the fellows they say are pretty good; but I think we're better!

And I think if we get ourselves keyed up to a point, and when we're confident of that...
why, the results will take care of themselves.

All right, now. On the kickoff - if we receive, the zone men will drop back to the receiver and block long - that old Tennessee style.

If we kick off - which the rest of the teams want - let's run down fast - just as fast as you can run. And then we go on defense.

And on defense - I want the center in and out of that line - according to the situation.

Use your old head!

And I want you guards charging through as far as you can go - on every play.
Expect the play right over you every time.

And the tackles - I want you to go in a yard and a half - and then check yourselves.

Spread your feet - squat down low - and be ready with your hands and elbows, so you won't be sideswiped.

But I want the ends in there fast every play. Every play, but under control.

And you men in the backfield - I want you to analyze it before you move.

And if they throw a forward pass, a zone pass, wait until you see the ball in the air - and then go and get it!

And when we get it, boys, that's when we go on offense.

And that's when we go to 'em - and don't forget, we're gonna pick on that one last one tackle that is weak.

We're going inside of 'em, we're going outside of 'em - inside of 'em outside of 'em -
and when we get 'em on the run once, we're going to keep 'em on the run.

And we're not going to pass unless their secondary comes up too close.

But, don't forget, men - when we get 'em on the run, we're going to go, go, go, go!

And we aren't going to stop until we go over that goal line!

And don't forget, men - today is the day, we're going to win.

They can't lick us, and the best time to go.

The first who's gonna, men, go in there and FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!
What do you say, men![/COLOR]

The best thing Kiffin could do is play a video of Casey Clausen conducting the band after he beat Florida in the swamp in 01(correct me on the year if im wrong). That would boost Crompton bigtime!

I doubt he will be yelling "Everybody get in here RIGHT NOW", and mentioning how they have "30 minutes" for the rest of their lives.

Naw, a speech like that is given in a big postseason game. Tennessee hasn't seen that recently.

... And i guess they are not professionals but i did not feel like calling Mr. Pacino to ask for a voiceover so it could be read verbatim... I guess i will next time!

I think if it inspired us to beat Fl this year it would be as big as a postseason game?

I don't have any experience playing football at the collegiate level or in the NFL, but would it be beneficial to give a speech somewhere between a big "rah rah" speech and a purely "X's and O's" speech. It seems like you would want the defense as fired up as possible, but you might want the offense a little more calm (especially at the skill positions).

Also, a big inspirational speech might be most effective at half-time, especially if you're behind on the score board. The players probably would need the confidence boost.

Once again, I'm not an expert - just thinking out loud...

point taken! In that case i guess i hope Fl gets to use it at half time... Wait, No! They would hear the sobbing QB, "you will never see anybody try harder than me, sry its not going to be enough today" speech!

Alright, Gentleman, This is it, this is the game the whole state of Tennessee and fans all across the states that love you guys, this is the game everyone is waiting on, this is the game where we can save this season and shut a lot of mouths. Now you have a chance, you have a choice, to go out there and not set a tone and get embarrassed by Florida, or you can go out there defense and put Tebow down and make him pick himself up off the ground consistenly, and offense you can set a tone by getting the first score, Crompton, don't worry about it, go out there and have fun, if you start getting rattled, just step away, take a breath and everything is going to be fine I promise. Now, Gentleman, the whole country is doubting us, badmouthing us, hell, even the lines in Vegas say we are going to get trounced by 35, well, like I said, you have a choice, either go out there and set the tone from the beginning or get walked on, be aggressive gentleman, be physical, let them know that Tennessee is here and we sure as hell are not going anywhere or going into hiding for the next 60 mins, lets go, it's time, time to take the war outside.

And another thing, pretty sure it's going to be a downpour in the Swamp on Saturday, I am leaving tonight, but I hope it is a downpour, I would love for the Vols to drain the Swamp, while I am there.

Pregame speeches are massively overblown.

Even this one ?

Yes.

It should be simple.

Gents, the only people on earth who believe are in this room, save a few back home. I believe wholeheartedly if you do what you're intended to do one every play to your ability, we will stp a mudhole in this team. Do your jobs. Let's go to war.

Not bad, but I would trade out Gents for MFs.

By the way I was attempting humor with the original question, what with OP's outstanding version and all.
