Kiffin's possible pre game speech for Florida

If excellent pre-game oratory determined the outcome of a football game then Obama would've aspired to become an SEC football coach and nothing less.

Believe it or not, I actually played a little bit beyond my peewee years, but those were simply the most memorable because my coaches gave the best pregame speeches. You don't know what talking about a post game Coke does for a 7 year old.

LoL...We always got Ice Cream if we won!!! Maybe thats what CLK should do-Offer to take the team to Dairy Queen if they beat the Gators!! Haha :good!:

What color shirt Kiffin chooses will have about as much effect on the outcome of the game as whatever he says before the game.

Kiffin: "Ok guys. Listen up. We're going to close our eyes and visualize the game for a moment.

Sullins, make sure you ask Jonathan if he's ready for the snap before you hike it.

Stocker, when you find yourself alone in the endzone, make sure you fire a flare into the sky so Jonathan can see you.

Jones, make sure your routes are perfect. I told the media that Jonathan throws to a spot, not receivers. I can only cover for Jonathan for so long.

Jonathan, if you find yourself on 3rd down, WRs are covered and the OL has opened up a gapping hole that even Knox could run for 40 yards, go ahead and tuck the ball and run for glory, son."

Tennessee history & tradition is engulfed with pregame speeches. The maxims are a pregame speech, and a huge part of this program and a huge part of many football programs. Pregame speeches not only motivate the players, but it inspires some to go do things that they should not be able to do. Sure there are plenty of kids who do not need the speech to fire them up, but there are many who do. You say that you can be 'over motivated' which I find to be extremely illogical. Motivation is a huge part of any sport. I know from experience that kids who play football can just be doing it to do it, and you as a coach have to find a way to motivate them and make them want to be bigger than themselves. Pregame speeches are just a small sample of a coaches job to motivate his team, but they are an important part.

His speech should include this:

'Men, we have worked too hard to prove everyone right today. Nobody believes you have a chance. You are a 28 point underdog. Your fan base has abandoned you, me, and all these coaches. The one thing you do have though is the man right beside you. You go out there and give everything you have for your university, for me, for these coaches, and for your brothers sitting next to you. DEFENSE, they say you are a 28 point underdog, I say hell to that, they shouldn't score 20 points on us. OFFENSE, they have 11 projected NFL picks, well you do your damndest to make sure that their stock falls today. Everyone wants you to believe you are a nothing, a nobody, a scrub, but men you are a Tennessee Volunteer, and our tradition, our history, is to rich to be thrown to the curb like you have been. TODAY IS THE DAY YOU PUT THE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BACK ON THE MAP. One play at a time, for 60 minutes. You play assignment football, you block, tackle, catch, & run. You do your best, your greatest, for 60 minutes, I promise you will rise victorious. It is our time, our moment. Take what is yours. (Read Maxims)

God I hope he can just go one game without a turnover. With them loading the box to stop the run he should have some down the field opportunities. Hopefully he can connect on some throws and get his confidence up.

If we need a speech to get motivated for this game, we ARE in trouble...

the adrenaline works, but do you really think UT players getting ready for UF need it?

IMO, they need to be brought from the clouds and reminded of their specific keys.
A little rah rah isn't that bad but pretty much what you said is right you have to focus on execution more than emotion. People on here forget emotion swings both ways in terms of play, it can make you hit a little harder, maybe even try a little harder but it can also make you sloppy. I would tell the players until the whistle blows hit them and hit them so hard that they piss blood in the morning but other than that focus on executing the game plan.

CLK said himself. If you need a reason to get up and play in this game. Something is wrong with you.

I tend to agree.

I like the way that sounds, I would add this to it at the end though:

"It's time to go out there and play OUR style of football and to BRING HELL WITH US!!!! Give 'em hell every single play, and by God be proud to be a freakin' TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER!!! Don't play their game, PLAY TENNESSEE FOOTBALL damnit!!! Don't even give those sons of bit*hes an inch! Do what you have practiced and do it well, and if you do that, You WILL emerge victorious and we WILL sing Rocky Top all friggin' night long! YOU are the beginning of what will be a GREAT TRADITION OF BEATING FLORIDA year in and year out and showing them that TENNESSEE is by God back in a position of prominance!!! Now lets go kick some ass!!! WOOOOOO"

Don't doubt he gives a speech.

A little overblown tho. At a point early in the game, it comes down to how good you are, and how well prepared you are.

I would rather be good, and prepared.

Yes, I'm going and don't really want to sit in the rain for 3 hours but I think it might give us a better chance, so I'm all for it.

Dude, games where it pours are the best. I went to a Western Carolina game (ya I know) one year when it just poured for the whole game. After a while, it became a huge party. Everybody in the stands was going crazy. It was awesome.

Downpour = running game for both sides. I like our chances with heavy rain the mix. I'll take every advantage we can get.

Fulmer's first game as interim head coach against Florida saw the Vols put up over 50 points in a downpour. Needless to say, we won,and this probably helped oust Majors. Rain takes away some of the passing game, which is to TN benefit.
