Cliff's Notes:

Didn't know about NO's arrest

Doesn't feel fair to pull a redshirt off a guy for the last two games even though we're lacking in depth

With Rico's injury, planning on running more of the Nickel package with 5 DBs. Anthony Anderson will play.

Vanderbilt runs the ball well. Defense doesn't give up the big play. Well-coached. Expects to see the wildcat package from them. Kiffin's looking for explosion on offense (from the Vols).

Dennis Rogan is questionable for game. Leg bothering him. Didn't practice yesterday.

Place kicking situation is "not very good". If it doesn't improve this week, he's going to have to manage the game differently (possibly more 4th down conversion attempts). Tongue-in-cheek humor: talked about Belicheck "copying" him from the Memphis game.

Ole Miss game -- talked about falling apart late and letting a great player explode.
Monte's not making excuses for his defense. Apologized to Lane for the defense last weekend. Calls his dad "Coach Kiff"

Season has gone by fast (except for last week, got a chuckle)

A 7 win regular season and a decent bowl is very good for a 1st year rebuild program.

It's still an improvement over what ole hog jaws would have accomplished!! Book that! We would be lucky to finish 6-6 with PF still at the helm IMO. I mean WE LOST TO WYOMING for pete's sake! There is no way The University of Tennessee should ever lose to Wyoming in anything....... Chess, Horse, Shuffleboard,.... ANYTHING!!!!

Our serious lack of depth is going to roar its ugly head these next two weeks. We will probably see two walk ons play some real minutes this week. Wolf and Reviez. I hope we can still hang on

Lack of depth, the way Fulmer left this team is a darn shame, hope the Fat Man never steps on the field as a coach anywhere. Except Bama

Actually, he said there wasn't an arrest, as some have reported, but that only a citation was issued. Said he was aware of the situation and Oliver was taken off the dress roster for the game.

So...the defense is basically the walking wounded...I hope we come out and execute on Offense these next two weeks!

He prefaced that by saying something to the effect of "I wasn't aware of NO's arrest now, or anytime before coming to UT". And then went onto talk about the citation and the fact that Oliver is a redshirt. I guess I should've have clarified by saying he wasn't aware of the shoplifting incident prior to his "no off the field issues" comments last week is how I took it.

I don't think that you can make the jump from what Deerpark quoted, that "there wasn't an arrest, ... that only a citation was issued" and arrive at the conclusion that Kiffin did not know about the issue last week.

It sounds more as if Kiffin DID know about the shoplifting incident, but wasn't aware that a citation for theft is an arrest that doesn't result in continued custody. Until I looked up the Tennessee codes on this, I wasn't sure either.

If this is the case, then Kiffin was splitting hairs a bit when he said that there have been no arrests in the past 11+ months, which he thought was true, but appears to have known about the shoplifting citation, both according to the comments from the show as indicated by Deerpark as well as the comments from the UTAA PR dept rep, Tiffany Carpenter. He didn't say "no legal incidents" or "no citations", he said "no arrests".

I believe that it was an honest mistake on Kiffin's part, though still somewhat misleading.

First time I have seen a thread with Sports Animal in the title that actually had some quality information. Thank!

with the banged up D I would expect more ball control offense these next two games. Watching points on the scoreboard is always fun though.

He agreed he'd like to be able to run the ball this weekend (referenced Vandy's inability to stop the run this season) but warned against getting in a "grind it out" type game where it's the 4th quarter and we have 13-10 lead. That's when he talked about the need to be explosive to put the game out of reach before the 4th quarter.

yes i agree, you dont want Vandy close in the 4th.put them away early and dont even let the thought of a upset enter there mind.

I expect us to come out like a house a'fire. JC will be chucking it all over the field. We'll look like Florida State in the 90's.

The D is thin and the ones that are left are walking wounded, and so we're just going to have to out score them. I'll bet CLK is licking his chops!

Go Coach !

Realy thin on D now. That is something worth worrying about. After the poor tackling display last week I am worried about the next 2 games.

I'd agree with anyone that Fulmer is over the hill but that one is on Hamilton. You can't fire a head coach on a Tuesday in the middle of the season and expect the team to be focused and pull out a win. That decision should have been announced after the Kentucky game.
