Started the demise of Phil Fulmer, 2nd UT game i watched start-to-finish. Tore me up. I'll never 4get my dad going, "son, you'll see a lot of these." Oh, how true.
11 players is a lot.
The only negative to this is that he has to produce and fast. Radio stations in Clemson are giving him 2 seasons before he is fired... and I can see that if he doesn't win fast.
With the attrition this off season, I wouldn't expect too much this season... 11 players is a lot.
I hope you're right. I'd love to see Lane become a high profile coach. How could you argue with Urban Meyer, Steve Spurrier, Mark Richt, Lane Kiffen, Rich Brooks (to an extent), Les Miles, Nick Saban, Petrino (to an extent) and Houston Nutt (to an extent)? The SEC would have the BEST collective coaches in any conference.Assuming no major violations and recruiting is strong he'll get a minimum of three years, probably four.
This year he'll get a pass, next year will be a rough rebuilding year, there'll be some grumbling, but if he's recruiting well the knowledgeable fans will hold their powder. 2011 is the year to watch, if that team takes a huge step forward, he'll be here a while; if the team doesn't the seat will start to get hot. It will all boil down to the next two recruiting classes which is what this staff was built for.
I wouldn't worry too much about the 11 MIA. Only 2 were going to be real contributors the other 9 would have just stood around and killed grass on the sidelines.
Opens up more slots for Oku, Brown, type players.
I actually give him 3. Many of the same people on here drinking his koolaid will turn on him after the 2nd season if they don't think things are improving. The only negative to this is that he has to produce and fast. Some of those guys had talent but the only one who'd proven anything was Morley... and he's never been dependable. Abrams-Ward could have cured alot of ills but was apparently a bad influence within the team. With the attrition this off season, I wouldn't expect too much this season... 11 players is a lot.
I like Richt as a man but they're probably one head coaching change away from dominating the SEC for a few years.I see UGA on the way down,
I really respect your fan base and program. Besides a few idiots (and we all have them), Vol fans are some of the more intelligent when it comes to football, and fun to hang out with on any given day. I secretly root for you guys to do well when we don't play :swoon3:
So you just wanna forfeit those games then. Hell why play them?I think a lot of people are kind of doom and gloom about these Vols. If you take a look at the schedule, by SEC standards, it's pretty soft. I think we can most likely go ahead just expect to take it on the chin from FL, GA, AL, MS but the rest are all very winnable games and all but KY are at home. I don't think that AU will be very good. Vandy will be "good." KY well we haven't lost to them since Reagan's first term. I have this hunch that Ole Miss is this year's Clemson.
WKY-W
UCLA-W
FL-L
Ohio-W
Auburn-W
GA-L
AL-L
SC-W
Ole Miss-L
Memphis-W
Vandy-W

he needs to shut up and play. he is so annoying. he has never been a head coach in the ncaa and is attacking the best coaches and teams there are. the gators are going to eat them alive.
Yet another judger before a game has even been played. Amazing how many people are psychic on this board.
