Kiffin would have beat Georgia!

I was waiting to post this until after everybody calmed down after Saturday. I am slowly losing faith in the coaching staff. Last year Georgia did not cross the Tennessee 30-yard against us and this year we turn that mediocre Offensive coaching staff at Georgia into the best in the country with a freshman QB.

Put your anger towards Kiffin aside, last year's staff does not lose that game! Dooley seems over his head and I'm afraid we are in trouble people. I hope I'm wrong but seriously we have no reason to lose to Georgia like that who I think has one of the worst coaching staffs in the SEC (See 45-19 last year).

Too many or too few men on the field for 3 straight games (I bet that has never happened before)? UAB got drilled 42-7 by a mediocre UCF team and they took us to OT! Worst Neyland stadium loss! We are going to be 2-6 heading into October. Thought I would never see the day!

So? You could argue that Kiffin put us in this situation...

You have to accept reality as it is. Its hard too I know. There's nothing you can do about it. Kiffin left because he wanted to leave not because the university fired him. We are going to have to take our lumps and deal with it. 2-3 years from now, once Dooley has the players he wants then we can truely assess the coaching. There are too many factors that come in to play right now and we can't be looking at "what ifs" and all that crap. Buck up and take it like a man instead of a boy and accept that we suck this year.

According to Rivals (who some use to bash Dooley), USC is the most talented team in the country and it isn't close.

Hell, lets all put money on what Rivals thinks..Yay!!

Seriously, they are a bunch of people like you and me.

According to a bunch of folks in here, the school has the higher recruiting class, should automatically win the game right? No way Oregon should have beat UT the way the did. Washington beating USC? No way no how..not according to "the bible/rivals".

Once UT had two TO's on ST's... the game was over. Without those TO's, we would have seen a much more competitive game.

Keys to the game, UT can't turn the ball over. After the two on the kick return teams, they were done.

Wow lets just say that lose to UGA was sooo idk the word for it i was so disappointed in everything the way we DiDNT play. the way they kept talking how he from there, like makes me think he wanted UGA to win, thats just me tho. he didnt look mad at all through the whole game, i guess we just totally sucked balls. dont mean i hate tennessee, i just know we gotta play better than that if we play to stay n the game at all, there are sum tough teams we are about to play we cant be playing like sum goons n the backyard like it dont mean nothing. come on VOLS get on it!

Go back and tell me where I said that Tennessee and USC had the same talent level.

Kiffin, and USC's problem is that the Pac-10 has had a bit of a renaissance in the past 2-3 years. Arizona, Stanford, Oregon, and Oregon State can all compete for the P10 title.

It's going to be much tougher for them to get to the top now than it was in 2001 when Petey boy took over.

yep while those teams are competing for the pac-10 title, the SEC has Bama, LSU and Florida winning the NC the last 4 years and Auburn, USCe, LSU in the hunt this year plus Bama yeah pac-10 is a tough conferance

To make this argument stick you have to assume that none of the "star" players leave and that Kiffin would have filled the holes with similar recruits. Most likely we would have had a top 10, maybe even top 5 recruiting class, but would all of the holes be filled. Would we be better off at center, O tackle or D Line? Plus would we have some of our young stars like Hunter, Rogers, James and Stone, etc? Maybe, but I think we're still dealing with experience, talent and depth issues.

Does Kiffin and Ogeron develop the same O Line to even its current mediocre level? You would have had only one guy with experience but probably wouldn't have James or Stone or Gooch. Say what you want about Gooch, but he's the only choice at center right now. Maybe they are better but most likely they would be exactly the same or even worse.

Probably he starts Bray from the beginning and maybe he does well, but just as likely he's watching from his hospital bed after Oregon or Florida. Now you have Simms or Laimison struggling to hold things together just as we have now.

Maybe the QB is throwing to Moore and Jones and maybe they have that other star freshman that got away, but then again, maybe the QB doesn't have time to throw just like now.

Probably he starts B Brown over Poole and possibly by now Poole and Oku have left, meaning you have Brown, Neal and Williams in the rotation. Maybe Brown is having a heisman year, but with our O Line, that would be truly remarkable and unlikely.

Sure, another year under Monte's direction would have the defense doing fairly well, but you would still be down 2 DTs, because you have to assume the injuries would have still happened. Maybe we don't have the substitution penalty at LSU, but then again, well you can second guess that all day.

Finally, there is the issue of our players relations with KPD. Maybe, just maybe, Kiffin responds to the Bar Knox incident similar to CDD and we are able to move through the rest of the summer without anything else. But then again, maybe there is a difference in response that leads to continued problems and we have a run of incidents that keeps a number of players off the field.

In the end, regardless of who is coaching, we would still have the experience and depth issues that are killing us.

Then there is the opponent. Even if Kiffin and crew were here and we beat say Florida and LSU and came into the game at 4-1, Georgia still has a huge chance to win. They were desperate and they were hungry. They prepared better and were able to take advantage of our mistakes. Logically you could assume that this could have been our trap game, especially if we had an emotional win the week before. Maybe we have different turn overs and make different mistakes. Maybe it is possible to conceed that no one was stopping Georgia this past Saturday.

Maybe we can stop living in the past and start looking toward the future.

with tons of talent at usc, kiffin's losing to mediocre pac 10 teams. Washington? Stanford? With top 5 recruiting classes of Pete Carroll, kiffin's team should blow these average teams off the field.

The fact that you think Stanford is "mediocre" speaks volumes for you.

Stupid thread.

TOTALLY agree.....if this guy wants to root for kiffin, go be a USC fan....I personally think Dooley is doing a fine job, with what he has to work with. Had Kiffy still been here, the team would look totally different, so sure, we MIGHT have won that game, in fact, if Kiffy was coaching the exact squad we have now, we might have lost by 50 to uga, cause im sure big mouth would have surely made some retarded quote the week of the game to tick the UGA team off....they were just better than us

I agree. Stanford isn't a black mark on his resume, but Washington definitely is, and Hawai'i and Virginia were pretty bad results. Minnesota was close most of the game and they are 1-5.

Their defense is marginally deeper than UT's.

kiffin is a awsome recruiter... thats it...he isint a offensive genious or anything... he has tons of 5 stars at USC and kiffin and the combover aint doing to well in the pac 10 right now...

He improved the UT and Raider offenses without much help from recruiting. I don't know that I'd call him an "offensive genious" or even an "offensive genius", but he's pretty good on that side of the ball. Not sure what the problem with the USC defense is, but I have a hard time laying it on Monte.

I’m still supporting Coach Dooley 110%, as we all should. He was dealt a bad had by K and a depleted team left by Coach Fulmer (I have the deepest respect for Coach Phil & the remaining players), but that’s the truth. I do question why the defense can’t stop anyone on 3rd down, but that is the DC’s question to answer. The players seem to know what to do and where they are supposed to be, but just can’t seem to be there and close the deal. Coach Dooley didn’t put the ball on the ground over and over. I think the offense has some bright spots, but that defense is a sieve.

dude get over it!!! if you think this way then you should go and rub some lotion on kiffins back side....if you can't see that we had twice the talent last year then you need some help..yes i agree we suck right now but give Dooley some time...
