Kiffin Was Right

Who said I was a fan of Florida?

Anyhow, if Florida makes it to the SECCG half of their 14 games would have been played on national television. The rest of their games would have been played on local markets. UF has more televised games than any team in the SEC.

couple NC's will do that,,i think?:ermm:

We're rebuilding. You know, kinda like the Gators did for the majority of the last century. You'll change your tune when our consecutive top 5-10 recruiting classes begin to show up on the field.

You're right; I will.

However, it's not going to happen with Kiffin. Kiffin will turn out to be your Zook. He'll recruit really well, load the cupboard, and ultimately get fired for being a buffoon (akin to Zook challenging a frat to a fight).

Just like Florida, you'll replace your buffoon with a proven coach (someone who actually has some history of winning college football games as a head coach). That proven coach will use the Kiffin's recruits to bring the Vols back to prominence.

The Vols will suffer through two or three years and will be right back either winning or competing in the SEC East. It's just going to be after the Kiffin Koolaid finally wears off and you send him packing.

Its obvious that if you aren't a gator fan that you are the type of person who will be one if they win it all this year, and claim to have been one forever.

Just curious, how do coaches become proven? They have to start somewhere right? Maybe CLK will fail maybe he will make Meyer look mediocre after their careers are done. There's no way to know at this point, which is why comparing him to Zook or Carrol or anyone at this point is ridiculous. Let's see what's what in 2 years

UT wont end up with a 5* athlete from Rivals or ESPN. I don't pay much attention to Scout because their rankings are trash.

UT has an average star ranking of 3.57. Good, byt not great. UT probably wont end up in the top 5. Not a knock, just truth.

This is the dumbest post I've read all day. You're an idiot. Go back to your trailer and stop hogging up your local libraries internet.

Ron Zook did the same during his tenure. Gator fans were just as excited as your guys are.

Bobby Bowden has been pulling in Top 10 recruiting classes consistently for years.

Per Rivals the Noles got:

2005 #2
2006 #3
2007 #21
2008 #9
2009 #7

How's the working for them?
Maybe FSU should grow some balls and fire BOBBY BOWDEN sounds like he is getting like Fulmer

Damn. If only Monte Kiffin, Jim Chaney, Ed Orgeron, Lance Thompson, and Mitch Browning had proven anything. Oh well.

I didn't say anything about attending UF. Reread your post and mine then reply

I read your post, you implied that I came off as a bandwagon fan for UF which would be ironic considering where I attend school. :ermm:

The Seminoles have been signing top-rated recruiting classes full of 4 and 5-star players for years. Yet, they now routinely lose 5 games a year. (Oh, and they're 1-1 after losing to an unranked team, just like the Vols).

The Seminoles also went out and got a "dream team" of assistant coaches -- supposedly the best in the business.

Ron Zook had top-rated recruiting classes as well. Yet, he consistently lost to teams that were loads with 2-star talent. Similar to the Seminoles, Ron Zook surround himself with outstanding assistants (including Charlie Strong who has since coached 2 MNCs teams).

Recruiting classes and great assistants do not win championships unless the team is led by a good coach.

Once the Kiffin Koolaid wears off, the Vols will figure that out.

Did any of those teams have a coach comparable to Monte Kiffin?

Not sure how attending a school makes you exempt from being a bandwagon fan.

Sure buddy. :good!:

I've been a Vols fan since childhood. UT won the NC while I was in high school. I could have decided to start following them at that point and been a bandwaggoner. Do you think every student in Gainesville is a fan of the Gators, much less a lifelong fan?

I think the easiest way to get proven is by winning college football games as a HC. Look at recent MNC winners:

Meyer won as HC at Utah and Bowling Green
Les Miles won as HC of Oklahoma State
Mack Brown won as HC of UNC
Jim Tressell won as HC of Youngstown State

Of course there are exceptions (Pete Carroll), but I think teams are much better off with a hiring a successful, proven college HC.
