Showing highlights for the Lady Vols game, it showed him shooting foul shots.

After he hit the first one, Rece Davis said " His foot was not over the line, therefore no violations"

lol. The rep Kiffin is getting really isn't going to be helpful.

He may turn out great. He might be a flop. But has any coach ever garnered more attention without ever having even coached a practice?

I think he will turn out great....I don't see how he could fail, even if he was a mediocre coach(which I don't think he is, 5-15 as on Oakland Raiders head coach is a vast improvement for them in 2 seasons)the staff he has around him won't let him fail.....JMO

Agreed . . . I don't think there's any doubt that whether Kiffin wins or loses, the way he goes about it will ensure that Volnation.com flourishes.

Lane Kiffin is a superstar, he'll be ranked first on the Top 100 Celebrities in the world soon.

Lets just hope he produces on the field. Otherwise, we will be the laughing stock of college football. Not to mention losing sucks.

As long as Kiffin is winning, he's going be loved by Vols fans....When he loses that first game though, that's when we will find out about what people think.....The men's basketball team and Coach Pearl is a perfect example of it, when you are winning Vol fans love you, when you're losing they want your head...I'm sure that's the same with any fan base though

Although I'm well aware this season will be most likely be closer to .500 than undefeated, I can't remember looking forward to game 1 more than I am for '09.

Let's just hope the football team gives a better defensive effort than the bball team has this year. I don't think most are on bruce for the losses but rather the terrible effort his team has put on the floor this year. He's finally having to coach and, while it may get better, there are some pains. For example, I doubt Kiffin forgets to cover Julio Jones this year.

just before they go to the next highlight
they get another shot in on CLK
with something along the lines of
"he didn't take any more shots at SEC coaches tonight"

I personally love all the publicity Tennessee is getting right now. Whether it be for the better, or the worse.Lane Kiffin has brought back national attention to our program (something we haven't had in years) and he hasn't even coached a game. Once he starts winning football games, then all the haters mouths will shut. Winning IS going to happen with this staff. Maybe not this year, maybe not next year, but in a few years you wait and see.

I also love the fact that ESPN is sayin that Florida and Alabama will hang 80 on us if they can. Well I hate to break their bubble, but apparently they haven't seen that we have IMO the best defensive mind in football today.

Go Vols!

I will have to take a week long break from VN after the first loss of the football season.

That is when all the rejects who think Fulmer got screwed will come out of the woodwork and say how Kiffin should be fired and how we made a huge mistake in hiring him.

I love the Vols and Vol fans but in the last few weeks I have realized we have just as many retards as other fan bases in the SEC.

I agree but they are on both sides.

Mike Price would be a distant second.
If I'm not mistaken, Mike Price had many practices. He may have even made it after their A-Day (their version of O/W game) because I recall their players having to dump his system and learn a new one before the season even started.

I 100% agree with this!
The staff is too good to fail!
And this really puts pressure on all the coaches in the league, because if we do make a splash this year and upset some teams we will have recruits piled up at the athletic department begging for an offer!
All of them have interest they just want to see what we will look like first. If we look impressive than they will be coming from everywhere!

I know everyone knows it but I'm going to throw it out there....Rece graduated from Alabama so what else do you expect.

After reading the Sports Illustrated article, I don't even think about all the recruiting violation noise anymore. Let all the hack writers and opposing fans climb up their trees and yell about how terrible a thing it all is. Media loves to find a personality that they can call an automatic judgment on.

But the real story is how this guy has completely revamped a major program so completely that it's shocked people. We have all been lulled into being comfortable with a laid back sustained level of better than average performance. Well, there's a new culture now and it sure isn't about being anywhere near average. Every thing and person associated with the program from coaches to secretaries have been dragged out of their caves and thrown in the water to see if they're sinkers or swimmers. Intensity breeds intensity and the laser beam focus on the future is undeniable. The new foundation has been cast gentlemen and it's strongest pillar is recruiting.

Lane has done to football what Pearl did for basketball. I just hope he produces on the field.

If he does -- Mike Hamilton will have pulled of a feat few AD's have done.
