Kiffin: Vols aren't scared

Wow, I thought the ESPN buyout of SEC football was a good thing. Tennessee had a good showing in Gainesville but the number of articles surrounding this whole thing, from ESPN and the media in general, is beyond absurd. You'd think that college football stopped and started with this game.

When the #1 team in the country keeps talking for months about how "motivated" they are and then comes out like this, it's a story. When their coach tries to talk and gets owned afterward, it's a bigger story. The end.

Who says it has to be a shot at anyone? Can't he just make a comment and it be seen at face value?

Maybe we should drug him and make him spill the beans.

Maybe you should lay off the smart a**ed comments.
Obviously Momma didn't whip that butt enough.

I don't think Kiffin intended it as a direct shot at the ex-coach. I think he said it as a simple fact without even thinking about him. Even so, ultimately the former coach was to blame for our boys being scared.
Amirite?

ok, let me put this another way.

I think it is surprising that UT fans are not calling Kiffin on his mouth. If this were a coach of another team, and you guys had been winning, you would be up in arms over the comments. You would NOT like lane Kiffin, and you know it.

These comments are wreckless to say the least, and will do you no favors in the SEC. Trust me, you don't want every SEC coach there is gunning for your head every week.

I also think it's surprising that you guys are ok with some kind of "moral victory". You're coach came into the FLA game with no intent to win. It was damage control as soon as the game started. Why are the UT faithful letting him slide on this. You should be demanding he never enter a game with a plan to not to win. If you think for a second he came into that game with a plan to win, you have obviously never stepped on a football field in your life. That was a terrible called game if it was a game plan to win.

The fact that you guys are ok with a moral victory shows that Tennessee is no longer a power house in football. You have accepted mediocricy or even worse than that, You have now accepted losing as long as it is by a couple scores. Kiffin is setting a low bar in his first year. Run thy mouth, claim moral victories, and when we lose, run the winner in the ground.

Things need to change in rocky top, big time. And mouth running and moral victories are not going to fix the problem.

With all due respect. respect you're program. The way you guys are now buying into the kiffins excuses is NOT respecting you're program.

and I'll add that the current media coverage or "over exposure" if you will, that Tennessee is getting is exactly what that program needed.

Sorry but, I can't stand the "if you will" statements.

Thats the most over used media comment I've ever heard in my life.

I don't know of anyone in my life that says that in normal conversation, only media craps.

Let me put it this way, we don't need an unknown troll coming around here running their mouth telling us what needs to be changed on Rocky Top. We understand everything that's going on in the program and don't need your (see how that's spelled) opinion on the matter. Thanks for stopping by.

I totally agree. It was a good game, more competitive than most imagined. However, the hype surrounding it has gotten way out of hand. It was expected going in given the nature of the offseason comments, but the seemingly increased coverage after the game is excessive, IMO.

No joke man. I think both our coaches need to step back and quit with the bickering. It is one damn game that wont make or break either of our programs. All it is accomplishing is giving the complete idiots at ESPN something else to blow out of proportion and flap their gums about. Lets leave the talking between the lines on the field and not give other conferences something else to try to use against us in recruiting (I can hear the Little 11 conference and Weak 10 coaches using the childish bickering against us as a conference). The game is over and done with, we all need to let it go, stop with the excuses and whining, and focus on the rest of our seasons. Go Vols!

what does that mean??

It means wreckless isn't a word and your silliness about coaches gunning for ours is media driven stupidity. Every coach out there tries to kill us every week, and vice versa.

Now, make like a tree and GTFO.

What is "wreckless" about his comments? Id rather have a coach that stands up for his staff and players when another coach tries to minimize their efforts with stupid excuses, than a coach who just bends over and takes it while continually clapping at mistakes and making pathetic excuses of his own (ie, Fulmer). If Kiffin were the coach at UF or Bama and made the same comments, of COURSE we would hate him....thats our job as rival fans. However he is OUR coach, and after having to deal with a coach like Fulmer being content with mediocrity for the better part of a decade and refusing to make any changes because he was too stubborn to admit our program was falling WAY behind, even though every other person in the country could see it clearly..... Kiffin is a breath of fresh, un-censored reality for our fan base. Even just going off of the comments from the actual players about the night/day differences in how this staff approaches preparation, responsibility and intensity is more than enough.

I dont expect rival fans or media to like CLK. In fact, if they do, there is something EXTREMELY wrong there. Rival SEC fans didnt mind Fulmer at all, because at the end, he was doing more good for their programs then his own. They did not fear him or the future of UT football with him leading it......and regardless if the UF, Bama, UGA etc. fans will admit it or not, they absolutely have taken notice of the upswing in our program, whether it be us being back to getting top 5-10 recruiting classes once again, or that our players are prepared and not "scared" of playing the #1 team in the country in their house as 29 point underdogs. The only opinions that matter are the ones of UT fans, administration and players. CLK is doing excellent there. Our program is back on its way up, there is NO denying that. If rival fans were in our position, having put up with what we have the last 8 years or so, I can guarantee they would be excited with CLK as their coach....with this staff.....and with the talent he is bringing into the program.

I agree....big freakin deal if other programs are "gunning" for us. We won 5 damn games last year. I WANT to be the program people are gunning for. I dont think there is any self respecting, non-UF fan or media member that believes for a second Urban Cryer and UF didnt want to completely blow us out. The situation was perfect for it....in their house, possibly the WORST QB IN UT HISTORY under center.....all the "bulletin board" material and the Power T plastered all over their locker room.....yet they couldnt do it. Meyer actually expected people to believe he called it "conservative" and was just happy to win. Sure. His BS excuses were a slap in the face directed squarely at our players and coaches. They come to Our House next year...... and i guarantee CLK wont have conservative in his vocabulary then. I already cant wait for that game. Should be an even better contest since UT will actually (hopefully) have a QB under center who is good or more than just handing off an throwing interceptions.

When Spurrier was popping off at every team he faced, we all hated it but the guy could back it up. Give Kiffin a year or two and he'll be able to back it up, too.

I smell fear from the trolls....

Your stupidity never ceases to amaze me. You keep saying the same thing over and over again in different threads trying to accomplish God knows what, and it's just not gonna work. You are wrong...100% wrong, not to mention a complete dumbass!!! It is quite obvious that all the shots you are taking at CLK and Tennessee is because deep down you KNOW that the VOLS are on their way back to the top of College Football and that UF's reign at the top is quickly coming to an end. I would suggest you come back to reality and stop living in your little fantasy world where your precious Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow run around shaking their asses on each other and take turns giving you reach arounds. NONE of your excuses have any validity to them and none of what you say has any truth to it. Please just do us all a favor and take your ass back to the UF board and STAY THERE!!!!!
