So, what does LSU do 3-4-5 years from now, if they land Kiffin, and he hasn't brought home a trophy. And they made a mess out of this BK thing and all the money coming with it. Plus all the money they'd have in Kiffin, and they can't afford to piss on him too.

If I'm the AD, I just inform LK the games are over. Provide an answer by COB or clear desk out and vacate by Friday.

There is no win for Ole Miss in firing Kiffin. A power flex of "clean out your desk" sets Ole Miss back years to try to find someone nearly as good as Kiffin who wants to be in Oxford.

They'll take whatever games he plays with them and they'll like it or they'll have to do something ridiculous like rehire Freeze.

It sounds great to buck up to him but it's a self inflicted wound financially, legally, and to the fan base to fire him.

Lane is a narcissistic ass but he's got all the cards right now and he's got Jimmy Sexton squeezing every dollar until the eagle's eyeballs are popping out.

Here is what Ole Miss gains from this if Lane and Sexton troll UF and LSU and stay at Ole Miss:

Next year schools, and the national media, are far less convinced anyone is just going to be able to hire Kiffin away from Ole Miss. It immediately shoots the Ole Miss brand from what it was in the past to, "Okay, this is a place good coaches want to stay at."

Would be tantamount to a firing. I do not know the language of Lanes current contract re: offset language. If that is not present, could end up costing OM a boatload. Would also result in a court case that would drag on forever. I'm sure the OM attorneys have reviewed the contract and think they are screwed.

Such actions would basically make you a pariah in terms of hiring your next coach. Guaranteeing you get the bottom of the barrel desperate coaches is not a solution either.

Face it, Lane currently has 3 schools over a barrel and Lane being Lane is enjoying the situation


Sooner or later, he is gonna end up with egg on his face though. He always does when you look at his history. I'm not so sure there will be a comeback for him after his next implosion.

Regardless of what happens, this is not a good look with 2 of the 3 schools. And frankly with most other fans as well. Lane being Lane, this is just how he rolls. Vol fans are very familiar with his low class ways.

Word is that Ole Miss is matching the salary offers. Ultimately it comes down to Lane deciding if it’s easier to win an NC at Ole Miss, Florida or LSU. Pretty sure it’s the latter but that’s just me.

It's Alabama or bust for Lane and he's staying at Ole Miss, IMO. When they can DeBoer in Tuscaloosa, he's gone and he'll be a handful for us when he gets there.

In Oxford, there are very limited expectations and he's exceeded them. He'll get paid a ton AND they will be far more forgiving of him not winning a Natty than Baton Rouge or Gainesville.

He's a narcissist but he's not stupid. Moving from Oxford to anywhere except Tuscaloosa would be dumb.

Agree on Bama. Different scenario if DeBoer leaves. Obviously he’d take that one if it’s open. If not though, I still think the LSU job is preferable to Ole Miss in terms of being able to win an NC.

Him going to LSU would effectively take that off the table forever. Yes Saban did it, but the politics are more difficult now.

I honestly think Lana is kind of holding back to see how the end of the season goes for Bama. They don't make the playoffs this year and make a bit of a run and those folks are gonna serve DeBoers head on a platter.

He's never going to Alabama. When you **** Saban's daughter while on staff, you can rule that out from ever happening. I think LSU is his top choice among all jobs. I do think he'd come back to TN, which I wish he was given that opportunity. Nothing against Heupel, but the staff Kiffin would put together and the recruiting he'd do here would well surpass Heupel.

That was a good rumor. And Bammers shag their sisters and cousins, so they’ll hire anybody they think can win a Natty.
